To the young man Raphael Pinchas (note 1: Rav R. P. Goldstein. See, regarding him, letters no. 5997 and 8177),

I greet you and bless you,

After an interruption, I have duly received your letter of 11 Nissan*, month of the deliverance, briefly describing your activities, as well as those of your friends. May Hashem grant that you multiply them, with joy and enthusiasm, for many more years, in an ever-increasing manner.

It is surely needless to remind you and your friends of the verse: "Extend your bread to the one who is hungry and do not hide from your own flesh," which our Sages comment in the following manner, in Tana Devei Eliyahu Rabba*. When one sees someone who is "naked" of Torah* and Mitzvos*, one must "cover" him, that is to say, take action toward him. Nevertheless, it is said: "do not hide from your own flesh," for one must also act for one's own person, that is to say, in the most literal sense, study the Torah* with ardor, its revealed part and Chassidus* (note 2: The addressee of this letter is a student of the Yeshivah*), put the Mitzvos* into practice in the best manner, the central point of all this being prayer. May Hashem grant you success. With my blessing for success in your sacred mission, the dissemination of the wellsprings (note 3: Of Chassidus*) until they reach the outside,

לאחרי ההפסק נתקבל מכתבו י"א לחודש ניסן חודש הגאולה, מראשי פרקים מפעולותיו וכן מפעולות חבריו שי'.

ויה"ר אשר מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב ירבה בפעולות כאלו עוד רבות בשנים, ובאופן דמעלין ומוסיפין.

ובודאי למותר להעיר אותו ואת חבריו שי', במ"ש הלא פרוש לרעב לחמך וגו' ומבשרך לא תתעלם, וכמבואר בדרז"ל בתדב"א רבה כי תראה ערום (בתורה ומצות) וכסיתו (וכו' ז.א. פעולה עם הזולת), ומבשרך לא תתעלם, פעולה בעצמו. וכוונתי כפשוטה - התמדה בלימוד התורה, נגלה וחסידות, וקיום המצות בהידור ובנקודה התיכונה בכל האמור ענין והתפלה. והשי"ת יצליחו.

בברכה להצלחה בעבודה הקדושה הפצת המעיינות (עד שיגיעו גם) חוצה.
