To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and assumes

a sacred mission (note 1: That of teaching), Rav Eliyahu Akiva (note 2: Rav E. A. Lipsker. See, regarding him, letter no. 8148),

I greet you and bless you,

After a long interruption, I have duly received your letter of the eve of Yom Kippur*, with the check that was enclosed. It has been transmitted to my secretariat, which will respond to you directly. I noted with pleasure, in your correspondence, the feeling of proximity that you experienced, although, for the moment, it is not yet sufficient, as you yourself indicate. May Hashem grant that this evolution intensify, until it becomes the case for all, until it becomes, according to the expression of the Admur HaZaken*, in the Likkutei Torah*, at the beginning of Parshas Nitzavim*, "unified, all as one." Moreover, all these days of the month of Tishrei*, in general, are linked and attached to Rosh Hashanah*, regarding which it is said (note 3: At the beginning of Parshas Nitzavim*, read during the Shabbos* that precedes this festival): "You all stand together."

You speak to me of your business, which causes you, each year, a substantial loss and, deep down, you attribute this result to your work within a school belonging to the vineyard of Chabad*. If this is indeed the case, there is an immense folly on your part therein. Another point, which is essential: it is clear that no material loss can result from it. On the contrary, this can only have the effect of a gain. And one has been able to observe concretely that all those who devoted themselves to the domains of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, have, in the end, obtained success, both spiritual and material. This is quite evident.

We approach the "day of our festival" (note 4: Of Sukkos*) and it is then that what was accomplished during the "hidden period," the ten days of Teshuvah*, is revealed. In this domain as well, a visible and tangible good will appear, here below, in a concrete manner. With my blessing for giving good news and for having a joyous festival,

לאחרי הפסק ארוך נתקבל מכתבו מערב יוהכ"פ, עם המחאה מצורף אליו, שנמסרה להמזכירות ויענוהו.

נעם לי לקרות במכתבו שנרגש קירוב הלבבות, אף שכמובן, לע"ע, לא במדה מספיקה, כפי כתבו, ויהי רצון שההזזה תתגדל הלוך וגדול עד שיהי' באופן "כולכם", וכדברי אדמו"ר הזקן לאחדים כאחד (לקו"ת ר"פ נצבים), ובפרט שכל ימים אלו דחדש תשרי בכלל, הרי כולו שייך ומקושר לראש השנה, עליו נאמר אתם נצבים וגו' כולכם.

במ"ש אודות ענינו, ושמפסיד עי"ז סכום ידוע בשנה, ומפרש פנימיות הטעם - מפני עבודתו במוסד כרם חב"ד, הנה אם כן הוא, ה"ז שטות גדולה ביותר מצדם. ועוד והוא העיקר, שבודאי שלא יפסיד עי"ז גם בגשמיות, אלא אדרבה עוד יתוסף, וכמו שראו במוחש בכל אלו שהתעסקו בעניני כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, שסו"ס הצליחו ברוחניות ובגשמיות גם יחד, וק"ל.

וכיון שמתקרבים אנו ליום חגנו, שאז מתגלים כל הענינים שנפעלו במשך הזמן דבכסא ובעשי"ת בכלל, הרי גם בהנ"ל יתגלה בטוב הנראה והן למטה מעשרה טפחים וכו'.
