To the members of the committee of Kfar Chabad*,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter, whose content concerns the manner of taking advantage of the tenth anniversary of the creation of the Kfar* and of its introduction. You ask me whether, in my opinion, you should concern yourselves with this project. However, in this matter, the beginning must be found at the other extremity (note 2: The initiative must come from below), which means that, if certain persons are apt for this, it is for them to organize it, in the fitting manner. This will then be positive. In this matter, it is important to have a detailed program, which will be established in advance, much more than for all the other domains of the Kfar*. Indeed, such a celebration can take place only once every few years (note 3: On the occasion of a particular anniversary). One must therefore endeavor to derive all the benefit from it. This is quite evident.

It is clear that each person can make an error, but this can serve as a means of justification only after one has introduced one's own effort, to the full extent of one's means, or, at the very least, when one is more or less certain that this has indeed been the case (note 4: That one has truly done all that one could). It is surely needless to add that, with the fitting attention, one can expect from such a celebration the highest and most important results. Likewise, it goes without saying that this is not linked to a precise date (note 5: The very day of the anniversary). In our era, it has become customary, including for what is linked to a precise time, to fix the celebrations and the consequences also subsequently. And one can justify this change of date in various ways, as soon as it proves useful. With my blessing for giving good news,

במענה למכתבם ותוכנו ע"ד ניצול מלאת עשר שנים ליסוד הכפר והתחלתו, ושואלים חוו"ד באם להתענין בזה.

ובכהנ"ל הנה ההתחלה צ"ל מקצה השני, ז.א. האם ישנם אנשים מתאימים שיתעסקו בעריכת האמור באופן המתאים דוקא, ואז נכון הדבר.

ובענין כהנ"ל נחוצה תכנית מפורטת ומבוססת מראש, עוד יותר משאר עניני הכפר, כיון שאי אפשר לעשות הנ"ל כי אם אחת בכו"כ שנים, שלכן מוכרחת ההשתדלות לנצל החגיגה במילואה, וק"ל.

מובן ששגיאות מי יבין נאמר בהנוגע לכאו"א, אבל זהו רק התנצלות לאחרי שמשתדלים ככל התלוי באדם, עכ"פ בהשערה קרובה לודאי.

בטח למותר להוסיף, שבאם תהי' שימת לב הראוי' - יש לקוות לתוצאות הכי נעלות וחשובות מחגיגה כהאמור.

כן למותר לעורר שאין זה קשור דוקא ביום מסויים, שהרי כבר הורגלו בתקופתנו זו, שאפילו ענינים הקשורים בזמן, הרי החגיגות ונצולם אפשרים גם לאחרי זמן זה.

וכמה טעמים יש למצוא על שינוי הזמן באם רק תועלת בדבר.
