To the leaders of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* of Lod*,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of Purim Katan*, in which you ask me about the manner of organizing the third anniversary (note 1: Of the attack during which students were murdered by terrorists at the vocational school of Kfar Chabad*, on Rosh Chodesh* Iyar* 5716 (1956)). You ask me what I think of it. It seems to me that I have already written, regarding a similar case, that the general principle in this matter must be the following. Every action that can be undertaken is positive. On the other hand, it is certain that inactivity will produce no result, not even the most minimal. But it is absolutely evident that such activity must necessarily be organized and planned in the fitting manner.

One must add, moreover, as I have emphasized many times, that the moment has come, for the Chassidim* of the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, to not content themselves with plowing and planting. One must also harvest and gather the fruits (note 2: See, on this subject, letter no. 7938). And this is indeed the case here. The purpose of this action must therefore be to strengthen the school and to develop it concretely, either materially, by means of a collection or of the mobilization of persons who will come to its aid and will be active, or spiritually, through publicity that will allow the enrollment of new students. You will make the decision as a function of these possibilities and Hashem will grant you success. With my blessing to give good news,

במענה למכתבם מפו"ק בשאלה ע"ד סידור יום זכרון שלישי וכו', ושואלים דעתי בזה.

וכמדומה כבר כתבתי בהנוגע לכגון דא, אשר כללות הנקודה, שכל ענין של פעולה טובה היא. והרי בודאי שמהעדר פעולה לא תהיינה כל תוצאות אפילו פעוטות ביותר, אבל מובן ג"כ ופשוט בפשיטות בהנוגע לעריכת ענין כהנ"ל שבדוקא צ"ל זה באופן מסודר ומתוכנן כדבעי.

ועוד יש להוסיף, וכמו שעוררתים כ"פ, שמכבר באה העת לאנ"ש באה"ק ת"ו להתעסק לא רק בחרישה וזריעה, אלא גם בקצירה ואסיפת פירות, וכן בהנוגע להנ"ל, צ"ל לאיזה תכלית מכוון ליסוד המוסד והתפתחותו בפועל, אם בגשמיות (ע"י מגבית, או תוספת מסייעים ופעילים וכיו"ב) או ברוחניות (פרסום הענין בכדי שיתוספו בפועל תלמידים וכיו"ב), ובהתאם לאפשריות הנ"ל, יחליטו, והשי"ת יצליחם.
