To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and assumes a

sacred mission (note 1: That of teaching), Rav Yehoshua Shneur Zalman (note 2: Rav Y. S. Z. Serebranski, of Melbourne, Australia. See, regarding him, letter no. 8185),

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 9 Elul*, as well as those that preceded it, with your request for blessing, which will be read, at a propitious moment, near the holy tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us. I thank you for the good news you announce to me, that of the improvement in the state of health of your son Aharon, as well as for that of the success of the dinner (note 3: For the benefit of the Yeshivah* Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* Lubavitch of Melbourne). You also make reference to the campaign being waged against you. This is very surprising for, on various occasions, I drew your attention to the necessity of procuring press clippings, published in Eretz Yisrael*, may it be restored and rebuilt, concerning Chabad*. You will be able to publish the content of several of them in the newspaper of your city, which will eliminate several false and slanderous arguments that have been raised. In this matter, there exist agencies in the Holy Land, as in other countries, that collect such extracts. In any case, it is good to do so now.

You also mention the coming of an emissary of the sages (note 4: Charged with collecting funds), who will be delegated by the Chabad* institutions of the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt. You are right to say that several persons already come and that they know success. You indicate that the Chassidim* will assist him, which could cause a loss (note 5: For the Chassidim* will not give to the institutions of Australia what they have transmitted to the institutions of the Holy Land). Nevertheless, you can reach an agreement on this subject and retain a percentage. However, to avoid resentment, you will not do so according to your opinion alone, but by bringing this arrangement to the knowledge of several persons and receiving their assent. Likewise, you will consult together in order to determine the most propitious moment and the conditions.

I address you my blessing for success in your sacred mission and for giving me good news of all of this. Moreover, we are in Elul*, the month of mercy, and, as the Admur HaZaken* emphasizes, the thirteen Attributes of Divine Mercy then shine, which have no limit. This will therefore be revealed in a visible and tangible good, both in the communal domains and in your personal concerns. With my blessing for giving good news, as well as to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מט' אלול והקודמיו, עם הפ"נ שיקרא על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ות"ח על הבשורה טובה מהטבת בריאות בנו אהרן שי', כן ת"ח על הבשו"ט מהצלחת הדינער.

ובמ"ש אודות התעמולה נגדית וכו', לפלא גדול, שזה איזה פעמים העירותי שימת לבם על ההשתדלות להשיג מאה"ק ת"ו קטעי מכ"ע שמתפרסמים ע"ד חב"ד, שכמה מהם היו יכולים ג"כ לפרסם (תוכנם) במכ"ע שבמחנם, שעי"ז היו מבטלים כמה טענות שקר וכזב וכו'. ובכגון דא ישנם חברות באה"ק ת"ו כמו בכל המדינות, שמתעסקות בלקיטת קטעים ממכ"ע כאלו, ועכ"פ כדאי לעשות זה עתה...

במ"ש אודות ביאת שד"ר ממסודות חב"ד אשר באה"ק ת"ו - צדק בכתבו, שהרי כמה משולחים באים וגם מצליחים. ובמ"ש שכיון שאנ"ש יסייעו, אפשר יחסר עי"ז וכו', הרי בזה אפשר להתדבר (בהנוגע לאחוזים כו'). אלא שבכגון דא, כדי שלא תהי' תרעומת, אין לעשות זה על דעת יחיד איזה שיהי', כי אם שיהי' בידיעה והסכם אחדים מהבע"ב, וכן להתייעץ ביניהם ע"ד זמן המוכשר, התנאים וכו'.

בברכת הצלחה בעבודתו בקדש ולבשו"ט בכל האמור, ובפרט שהרי נמצאים אנו בחדש אלול חדש הרחמים, שכדברי רבנו הזקן מאירים בו י"ג מדות הרחמים שהם בלי גבול, הנה יומשך זה בטוב הנראה והנגלה בענינים הכללים ובענינים הפרטים גם יחד.
