Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8207 — Chinuch
Volume 21 · Letter 454 · To: jeune Ezra(1)
By the grace of Hashem,
20 Kislev* 5720,
Brooklyn,
To the young man Ezra (note 1: Rav E. Schochat),
I greet you and bless you,
I respond to your letter, in which you tell me that you teach the Tanya* to the students (note 2: Presumably of a Yeshivah* that does not belong to Chabad*). It is, however, necessary to distinguish the effective conduct of the one who delivers this teaching and the efforts he deploys in this domain (note 3: His desire to deliver such a teaching, which can be set aside by the leadership of the Yeshivah* if they do not deem it useful) from the attitude of the students themselves. It is clear that, if the latter express the wish to study the Tanya*, one does not push them away (note 4: For the leadership of this Yeshivah* to accept this class, the request must therefore emanate from its students), which may Hashem forbid.
We are truly living in the period of the "heel of Moshiach*" (note 5: When his coming is imminent) and the holy Baal Shem Tov* writes, in his well-known epistle, published in the Poras Yosef*, more than one hundred years ago, that the king Moshiach* will come "when your wellsprings spread to the outside," those of the Baal Shem Tov*. May one therefore understand all of this and be penetrated by it in the fitting manner! The dissemination of the wellsprings will thereby be increased and one will hasten the deliverance, through our righteous Moshiach*. With my blessing for giving good news,
For the Rebbe Shlita*,
the secretary,
E. Kwint,
N.B.: No doubt you maintain the three well-known studies concerning the Chumash*, the Tehillim*, and the Tanya*.
