To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and assumes

a sacred mission (note 2: That of teaching), Rav Shlomo Chaim (note 3: Rav S. C. Kasselman, director of the Yeshivah Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch of Lod. See, regarding him, letter no. 7816),

I greet you and bless you,

After a long interruption, I have duly received your letter of 15 Teves*. I enclose a copy (note 4: This is letter no. 7162) of the letter I am addressing to the leadership of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* of Lod*. You will find therein my position and my analysis of the arguments you advance so that a section of Chassidus* not be created in the compilation of commentaries developed by the students (note 5: See, on this subject, letter no. 8205).

I add that I truly restrained myself in writing the present letter and that many elements remained in the pen. Above all, I have not the slightest doubt that, if this compilation had been printed several months ago, with a section of Chassidus* and another of the revealed part of the Torah*, the number of those studying Chassidus* would have increased, even if I do not know exactly how many they would have been, nor with what depth they would have studied it. On the other hand, I know to what extent our masters made efforts and asked us to disseminate the study of Chassidus*, without demanding a prior promise or guarantee. They wished that several dozens of persons be impressed by the manner in which one repeats a Chassidic* discourse, so that one then prays with the greatest fervor and acquires the most profound understanding of Chassidus*.

I must say that I do not understand your opposition to this project at all. According to the explanations you give, you consider that the students are not apt for this, but this is by no means the case, as I indicated in my letter addressed to the leadership of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*, after having conversed here with the students who came from the Yeshivah* of Lod*. Of course, one can develop other arguments, but these, by nature, confirm the evidence of the utility of printing this section (note 6: The section of Chassidus of this fascicle).

May Hashem grant that, despite the obstacles, the hindrances, the veils, the concealments, internal and external, our masters carry the victory, so that: "you shall spread," in kindness and mercy. And, may the study of Chassidus* develop. Thus, one will advance, one will add, and one will illuminate, until "the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of Hashem as the water covers the sea bed." With my blessing,

לאחרי הפסק ארוך נתקבל מכתבו מט"ו טבת,

מוסג"פ העתק מכתבי על שם הנהלת תו"ת דלוד, וממנו יראה השקפתי וסברתי בהנוגע להטעמים שכתבם לשלילה ע"ד מחלקה לחסידות בקובץ פלפול התלמידים.

ועוד להוסיף - שהמכתב נכתב לאחרי התאפקות רבה , כי כו"כ עוד נשאר בקולמוס.

והעיקר אשר בלי ספק אצלי, שבאם ה'י נדפס הנ"ל, מלפני כמה חדשים (כמובן יחד עם חלק החסידות והנגלה), הרי היו מתוספים לומדים בתורת דא"ח, אף שאיני יודע ברור כמה, והאם בעומק הכי גדול. אבלידוע עד כמה השתדלו וציוונו רבותינו נשיאינו, להפיץ לימוד החסידות, מבלי לקבל הבטחה וערבות מקודם, שכמה וכמה עשיריות אנשים יתרשמו מחזרת המאמר ודוקא באופן שיעשו לעובד ומשכיל הכי גדול.

מוכרחני לאמר, שהתנגדות שלו לכל הענין, אינה מובנת לי כלל וכלל. כי כמובן הטעמים שכותב, שאין תלמיד שיהי' מתאים לזה, אינם מתאימים כלל . וכנ"ל במכתבי להנהלת תו"ת, לאחרי הדבור כאן עם התלמידים שבאו מתו"ת דלוד לכאן.

מובן שיש מקום לעוד טעמים, אלא שמסוג כזה, שעצם מציאות טעם כזה - מגדיל עוד יותר ההכרה, בתועלת הדפסת חלק הנ"ל.

ויהי רצון אשר למרות כל המניעות העכובים ההעלמות וההסתרים מבפנים ומבחוץ, ינצחו רבותינו נשיאינו ובאופן דופרצת, בחסד וברחמים, ויתפשט לימוד תורת דא"ח באופן דמוסיף והולך מוסיף ואור, עדי שיהי' ומלאה הארץ דעה את ה' כמים לים מכסים.
