Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8222 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

24 Tishrei* 5722,

Brooklyn,

To the women's committee of Kfar Chabad*,

founded and directed by my father-in-law, the Rebbe,

whose merit will protect us,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I bless you and greet you,

I received, with pleasure, your letter of the eve of the festival of Sukkos*, "time of our joy," in which you give me good news of your sacred activities, destined to disseminate Judaism and all that concerns it, among Jewish women and girls. You also inform me of your good resolutions for the future. It is known (note 1: See, on this subject, letter no. 8119) what my father-in-law, the Rebbe, said about material Tzedakah* and one can deduce that this applies equally to moral Tzedakah* (note 2: The dissemination of Jewish values among other persons). When one decides to give and to help one's fellow generously, even if one goes, in this way, beyond the means one possesses, one then elicits, from above, a new source (note 3: Of the blessing) and a new channel (note 4: Conveying this blessing here below), through which one obtains everything one needs in order to put this decision into practice.

May Hashem grant that you yourselves, in your activities, adopt an attitude in conformity with this principle, by deciding to act not only according to your current possibilities, but even by surpassing them. Without a doubt, the words of the Tzaddik* of our generation, my father-in-law, the Rebbe, will then be fulfilled, so that you will fully obtain the possibility of applying your decision. As is the custom of the Chassidim*, in particular of the Chassidim* of Chabad*, you will accomplish all of this with true joy and enthusiasm. With my blessing for success in your sacred mission and for giving good news,

נעם לי לקבל מכתבן מערב חג הסוכות זמן שמחתנו מבשר טוב מפעולותיהן בקדש הפצת היהדות ועניני' בין נשי ובנות ישראל, ועל דבר החלטות הטובות בהנוגע לעתיד.

וידועים דברי כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בנוגע לצדקה גשמיות, ומזה מובן גם כן בנוגע לצדקה רוחנית, אשר כשמחליטים לתת צדקה ולעזור לרעהו בהרחבה, אף שלכאורה אינו לפי האמצעים שישנם במזומן, הנה באותה שעה מייצרים מלמעלה מקור וצנור חדשים להמציא כל הענינים הדרושים למלאות החלטה הטובה.

ויהי רצון שגם הן בעבודתן תתנהגנה מתאים להאמור ז. א. להחליט לעבוד לא רק כפי האפשרי בהווה, אלא בהוספה על זה ובודאי יקויימו דברי צדיק דורנו כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שתנתן להן היכולת המלאה להביא החלטתן בפועל.

וכנהוג בתוככי חסידים ובפרט בחסידי חב"ד לעשות בכל האמור מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב שמחה אמיתית.
