Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8230 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

1st day of Rosh Chodesh* MarCheshvan*

To Mr. Aryeh Yehuda HaKohen (note 1: Mr. A. Y. Walman, of Cholon),

I greet you and bless you,

I have just received your letter of the eve of Rosh Chodesh* MarCheshvan*, with what was enclosed therein. I thank you for having taken the trouble to transmit these correspondences to me. I also address to you my response letter, as you suggest.

I read, with pleasure, that you prayed in this synagogue, here itself, during the days of judgment (note 2: Rosh Hashanah* and Yom Kippur*). Without a doubt, as our Sages give the assurance (note 3: In Midrash Vayikra Rabbah, chapter 29, paragraph 3), when the Shofar* was sounded, Hashem left the Throne of rigor and took His place on that of mercy. We were therefore inscribed and sealed, within all of Israel, for a good and sweet year.

I conclude by expressing the hope, as the end of your letter states, that we will have the occasion to meet personally and to discuss in private. I address you my blessing for success in what concerns you personally, which includes, of course, the accomplishment of the mission that is entrusted to each one of us, that of disseminating traditional Judaism in every place where one can exert an influence. And, the assurance has been given to us (note 4: In tractate Yoma* 38b) that: "one comes to the aid of the one who wishes to purify himself," in an honorable manner.

אסיים בתקוה אשר כסיום מכתבו תהי' לנו גם הזדמנות להפגש אישית לשוחח פא"פ.

בברכת הצלחה בענינים הפרטים שבזה כמובן וגם פשוט מילוי התפקיד של כאו"א מאתנו להפיץ היהדות המסורתית בכל מקום שהיד מגעת והובטחנו הבא לטהר מסייעין אותו ובכבוד.
