Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8245 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

26 MarCheshvan* 5722,

I greet you and bless you,

You write to me about the strengthening of the Mitzvah*: "You shall not turn aside following..." (note 1: "your heart and following your eyes." In this case, how to maintain, permanently, the awareness of the Presence of Hashem). Now, one knows the means at one's disposal in the matter. One must remember:

1) the verse: "I fill the heavens and the earth." It is also said that: "Behold, Hashem stands before him" or, in the terms of our Sages (note 2: In the Tikkunei Zohar*, Tikkun no. 57): "There is no place that is empty of Him." But, one must also keep present in mind that

2) the Holy One, blessed be He, is the Essence of good. Now, it is in the nature of the One Who is good to bestow good upon each one, according to his needs, including to strengthen oneself in what you mention.

ידועה עצה היעוצה להיות נזכר 1) על מה שכתוב, השמים והארץ אני מלא, ונאמר והנה ה' נצב עליו ובלשון חז"ל לית אתר פנוי מיני' וביחד עם זה אשר 2) הקב"ה הוא עצם הטוב ומטבע הטוב להיטיב לכל אחד ואחד בעניניו גם בההתחזקות בהאמור.
