To the members of the Moshav* Bar Giora, in our

Holy Land, may it be restored and

rebuilt, very soon and in our days, by our

righteous Moshiach*, may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I received, with pleasure, your letter of the seventh day of the eighth month, that of MarCheshvan*, which was signed by many inhabitants of your city and which announces good news to me, the Chassidic* gathering that took place on this day, during which news was given from here. Without a doubt, as is the custom of the children of Israel, when ten persons or more are gathered, the Divine Presence was revealed, as our Sages have informed us and the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and Decisor of the hidden part of the Torah*, author of the Shulchan Aruch* and Decisor of the revealed part of the Torah*, formulated, in this regard, the following explanation, which he received from his masters, the Rav and great Maggid of Mezritch*, as well as his own master, the Baal Shem Tov*, whose merit will protect us:

The Divine Presence is revealed in the same manner when those present do not pronounce words of the Torah*, to the point that, if an angel appeared then, he would be filled with fear and terror, beyond all limit, due to this revelation, to the point of losing his existence entirely. You will consult, on this subject, Igeres HaKodesh*, chapter 23. All the more so am I therefore convinced that this was indeed the case at this Chassidic* gathering, during which the Torah* was commented upon and one was urged to put its Mitzvos* into practice.

May Hashem grant that the influence of this gathering continue during the days, the weeks, the months to come, for you and for us, for the good, in strengthening the study of the Torah* and the practice of its Mitzvos*, in good health, in material abundance, joy and enthusiasm. May Hashem grant that I receive good news of all of this. We are, indeed, on the eve of the month of Kislev*, that of miracles and of deliverance. With my respects and my blessing to give good news,

בנועם קבלתי המכתב משביעי בשמיני, הוא חדש מרחשון בחתימת כמה מתושבי מחנם הט', מבשרים טוב מההתועדות ביום האמור, קבלת הפ"ש מכאן וכו',

ובודאי כמנהג בני ישראל בהתאספם יחד במספר עשרה ויותר, אשר הודיעונו חז"ל, דאכל בי' עשרה שכינתא שריא, וביאר רבנו הזקן [בעל התניא - פוסק בנסתר דתורה - והשולחן ערוך - פוסק בנגלה דתורה] - ששמע מרבותיו (הוא הרב המגיד הגדול ממעזריטש ורבו הבעש"ט זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע),

שהוא אף שאינם מדברים בדברי תורה, והשראת השכינה היא עד כדי כך, שאילו נמצא מלאך אחד עומד שם, תפול עליו אימתה ופחד בלי גבול ותכלית משכינתא דשריא עלייהו עד שהי' מתבטל ממציאותו לגמרי (עיין אגה"ק סי' כ"ג).

ועאכו"כ שבטוחני שבהתועדות האמורה נדברו בדברי תורה והתעוררות למצותי'.

ויהי רצון אשר יומשך מהתועדות זו על הימים שבועות וחדשים הבאים לקראתם ולקראתנו לטובה, להוסיף בלימוד התורה וקיום מצותי' מתוך בריאות פרנסה שמחה וטוב לבב.

ויהי רצון שאתבשר בטוב בכל האמור, והרי עומדים הננו בערב חדש כסלו חדש הנסים והגאולה.
