To the distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem, devotes himself to

communal needs, has generous conduct, is of

an illustrious family, Rav S. Z. (note 1: Shneur Zalman Shazar, who subsequently became the President of Israel. See, regarding him, letters no. 7960, 8323, 8383, 8446, 8494, 8513, 8564, 8627, 8629, 8644, 8661, 8665 and 8676),

I greet you and bless you,

You will surely be satisfied to learn that here itself, during the Chassidic* gathering, one "tasted" the eau de vie that you sent and it was appreciated. I know of the effort you made to disseminate the discourses of the Admur HaZaken* (note 2: See the letters of the Rebbe in the compilation Tzaddik LaMelech, volume 6, letter no. 31. See also letters no. 8644 and 8676) and I have asked Rav Ephraim Wolf to transmit to you the proofs of a Chassidic* discourse that is to appear now (note 3: This is the Chassidic discourse entitled: "He surrounds him and builds him," published in Sefer HaMaamarim* Admur HaZaken 5566, from page 392). I enclose an exemplar, which has just been put in form before its publication. I have asked that you also be given a copy of my letter addressed to Mr. Steinman, concerning the celebration organized in his honor (note 4: This is letter no. 8238), for I know that you preside its committee (note 5: Charged with organizing this celebration). You surely received it in its time. It was addressed to you without a cover letter, for I did not wish to delay its dispatch.

We have entered the month of deliverance (note 6: Of the Admur HaZaken from the tsarist prisons, that of Kislev) and this gives me the occasion to express to you, by the present letter, my conviction that you will surely participate in the celebration of 19 Kislev*, which will take place at Kfar Chabad*, with joy and enthusiasm. With my respects, my blessing for good health and to give good news,
