To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Yaakov Chaim (note 1: Rav Y. Ch. Roter, of Yerushalayim*),

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of 7 Cheshvan*, with what was enclosed therein. You solicit an approbation for the work whose publication you are preparing. It is known, however, that this custom is not in practice in the family of the Rebbe. This is clearly established (note 2: See in particular, on this subject, letter no. 8183). Hashem grants His Providence to each one and He will therefore grant you success in all your needs, material and spiritual. All of this is explained at length and clearly by the teaching of the Baal Shem Tov*. And, one knows the proof, supporting this affirmation, that the Admur HaZaken* (note 3: See, on this subject, letters no. 6499 and 8653) draws, author of the Tanya* and Decisor of the hidden part of the Torah*, author of the Shulchan Aruch* and Decisor of the revealed part of the Torah*, from a statement clearly expressed by the Gemara*, in tractate Chullin* 63a, regarding the verse: "Your Judgments extend to the deep abyss," in these terms: "When he saw a heron, he said..." One will consult this text and the commentary of Rashi*.

In light of the content of your letter, I have good hope that it is unnecessary to emphasize to you the necessity of disseminating the wellsprings of the teaching of the Baal Shem Tov* and of fixing a time to study it, through the works of his disciples. This study will be daily and, furthermore, increased during the Shabbos*, which is holy for Hashem. With my blessing to give good news of all of this,

ויהי רצון מהשי"ת המשגיח על כאו"א בהשגחה פרטית (וכמבואר בארוכה באר היטב בתורת הבעש"ט, וידועה הוכחת רבנו הזקן בעל התניא - פוסק בנסתר דתורה - והשו"ע - פוסק בנגלה דתורה - אשר גמרא ערוכה בזה (חולין ס"ג ע"א) עה"פ משפטיך תהום רבה כי הוה חזי שלך אמר עיין שם בפירוש רש"י) יצליחו בהמצטרך לו בגו"ר.

מתאים לתוכן כתבו, תקותי שלמותר לעוררו ע"ד הכרח הפצת המעינות תורת הבעש"ט ולכל לראש בקביעות עתים בלימוד תורה זו מספרי תלמידיו וכיו"ב קביעות בכל יום ובהוספה ביום השבת אשר קדש הוא לה'.
