I bless you and greet you,

I respond to your letter of 13 Kislev*, in which you tell me that a match has been proposed to you, a distinguished young man. You met and exchanged on your conception of the world. You conclude by telling me that this young man expects from you a participation in his schedule and in his work. He sees in you more than what you think you possess (note 1: This young woman does not think she is equal to the expectations of the young man she has met). This proposal (note 2: To marry this young man) is, nevertheless, judicious, all the more so since your convergence of views will allow you to base your home on the principles of the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, as they are illuminated by Chassidus*.

Concerning the end of your letter, it is known (note 3: See, on this subject, the Sefer HaMaamarim* Melukat, volume 2, page 247, in note 85), when one studies the functioning of the personality, that the will directs all the forces of the human personality, especially when it is associated with a feeling of pleasure and is therefore not a simple decision. In fact, such a decision must be inspired by a true pleasure, which can emanate only from the profound dimension of the soul of a Jewish man or woman. I am surprised that you do not write to me about your activities within the Chabad* young women. No doubt you will do so at the next opportunity. With my blessing to give good news,

במענה למכתבה מי"ג כסלו, בו כותבת אודות הצעת נכבדות עם האברך הנעלה...

ונפגשו ודברו ביניהם גם בנוגע להשקפת עולמם, ומסיימת אשר מצפה המדובר להשתתפות מצדה בתכנית החיים והעבודה שלו וכו' ורואה בה יותר מאשר היא יודעת מה שיש בה.

נכונה ההצעה, ובפרט ששיתוף רצון יהי' בעניניהם לייסד ביתם על יסודי התורה והמצוה, כפי שהם מוארים בתורת החסידות.

ולסיום מכתבה - ידועה בתורת הנפש אשר הרצון שולט על כל כחות האדם, ובפרט כשהרצון מאוחד עם רגש של תענוג ולא רק החלטה לבד... אלא שהחלטה זו מיוסדת הנה על תענוג אמתי, והרי דוקא תענוג זה הוא של פנימיות הנפש של בן ובת ישראל.

לפלא שאינה כותבת ע"ד פעולות בעניני בנות חב"ד, ובטח תמלא בהזדמנות הבאה.
