To the young man, who assumes a sacred mission (note 1: That of teaching), Tzvi (note 2: Rav T. Hartmann, of Ramat Gan*),

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letters of the "day of good tidings," 19 Kislev*, date of our deliverance and of the freedom of our souls, as well as to the correspondence that preceded them. You describe therein briefly your holy mission, education based on sacred values, drawing near the hearts of the children of Israel to our Father Who is in the heavens. Now, your letter, as I have recalled, was drafted on the "day of good tidings," the Rosh Hashanah* of the study of Chassidus* and of the Chassidic* ways. I now respond to your questions:

A) The prayer (note 3: Rav Hartmann asked: "I would like to know whether girls are obligated to say the same prayers as boys or whether they can be content with only some of them") of the girls can indeed be a little shorter than that of the boys. As for the practical modalities, you will determine what the custom of the Orthodox schools is in the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt.

B) You tell me (note 4: Rav Hartmann asked: "There are, in many schools, a team of security guards, whose role is to stand on the road, on either side of the roadway, to ensure that the children cross only at the crosswalk. Such a team also exists in our school and I observed that there were also young women security guards, which does not suit me." Rav Hartmann had therefore been able to obtain that this function be reserved for young men) that you have removed the female security guards. במענה למכתביו מיום בשורה י"ט כסלו (והקודמיו), יום גאולתנו ופדות נפשנו, בו כותב ר"פ ממלאכתו בקדש חינוך על טהרת הקדש המקרב לבן של בנ"י לאבינו שבשמים... והרי נכתב מכתבו כנ"ל ביום בשורה, ראש השנה ללימוד החסידות ודרכי החסידות.

במענה לשאלותיו: א) תפלת התלמידות תי' - אפ"ל קצרה קצת מתפלת התלמידים שי'. בפרטיות - יברר הנוהג בזה בבתי"ס החרדים שבאה"ק ת"ו.

ב) בענין השוטרות שביטל זה - מובן שכן ינהג גם להבא.

ג) המשך לימוד הבוגרים בוגרות בבי"ס החב"דים - להבא כשיבקשו ממוסד חב"די פ' שיקבל תלמיד ממוסדו - ישלח העתק בקשתו (מנומקת) לכאן ויודיע להמוסד עד"ז, ויבררו מכאן האפשרי להעשות בזה. והרי בודאי גם לו ידוע מצב הכספי החמור בו נמצאים וק"ל.

תפלת התלמידות: במכתבו: רציתי לדעת האם בנות חייבות בכל התפלה כמו בנים או רק חלקים ממנה.

בענין השוטרות: במכתבו: בהרבה בתי ספר קיים ארגון של שוטרי בטחון.. תפקידם לעמוד במעבר חצי' משני צידי הכביש ולשמור שהתלמידים יחצו את הכביש רק במעבר החצי'.. גם בבית ספרנו קיים ארגון כזה.. וראיתי שגם בנות משמשות בתפקיד של שוטרות, לא מצא הדבר חן בעיני.
