I greet you and bless you,

I am surprised not to receive news from you, for a long time already. Of course, I am not alluding to ordinary news, but rather to a profound, essential and fundamental domain, to your drive, to the ardor you manifest in the study of our holy Torah*, as well as to your good conduct (note 2: The present letter is presumably addressed to a Yeshivah* student). If this is a necessity for each person, how much more is this the case for Kohanim* and you will consult what the Rambam* says on this subject, at the end of the laws of Shemittah* and the jubilee, when he explains its bearing on the service of Hashem, as well as the Likkutei Torah*, of the Admur HaZaken*, at the end of Parshas Korach*.

Furthermore, you have the merit of finding yourself at Kfar Chabad* and of pursuing your studies there. My father-in-law, the Rebbe, leader of Israel created this village and he directs it. Without a doubt, you will therefore bring me all these details. And, it matters above all that you study with drive and ardor, as I have specified, that you have good conduct, as I have indicated. For, nothing can withstand the will. With my blessing to give good news,

לפלא שזה מזמן רב שאין ממנו כל ידיעות ומובן כוונתי לא ידיעות סתם כי אם בענין הפנימי הוא ענין העיקרי והעצמי, התמדה ושקידה בלימוד תורתנו הק' והנהגה מתאימה לזה.

ואם בכאו"א גדול ההכרח בהנ"ל, עאכו"כ בנוגע לכהנים (עיין רמב"ם סוף הלכות שמיטה ויובל ענין הכהונה בנוגע לעבודת ה', ובלקוטי תורה לרבנו הזקן סוף פרשת קרח).

ובמיוחד אשר זכה ונמצא ולומד בכפר חב"ד מיסודו ובהנהלתו של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל, ובודאי יודיע על כל האמור, והעיקר שילמוד בהתמדה ושקידה כנ"ל ובהנהגה מתאימה כנ"ל ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.
