To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and assumes a
sacred mission (note 1: That of teaching based on sacred values), Rav Avraham Yitzchak (note 2: Rav A. Y. Tauber, of Kfar Saba*. See, regarding him, letter no. 8565),
I greet you and bless you,
After a long interruption, I have duly received your letter of 7 Kislev*. In these days of Chanukah*, may Hashem grant (note 3: The last section of the Tanya*) that one advance, that one add and that one illuminate. Such is also the teaching delivered by these days of Chanukah*, in which one adds lights, from day to day.
One can, furthermore, introduce an allusive meaning of these words. The source of the light and of the increase it produces is oil, alluding to the "secrets of the secrets of the Torah*." Now, the study of Chassidus* also reveals these "secrets of the secrets" and it makes it possible to understand them, in a concrete manner. The light can thus invest all domains and, according to the terms of the verses, "in all your ways, know Him." Such is indeed the purpose, "know the Elokim* of your father," which "leads to a whole heart" and "is an important Mitzvah*." Furthermore, this renders it "elevated." And, moreover, it surpasses the others, as the Kuntres Acharon* (note 3) explains, page 156b. With my blessing to give good news of all of this and for a festival of Chanukah* in conformity with what has just been set forth,

ובעמדנו בימי חנוכה, יהי רצון שיהי' בכל זה באופן דמוסיף והולך מוסיף ואור, שהוא גם מהוראות ימי חנוכה, דמוסיף באור מיום ליום.
ויש עוד להוסיף רמז בזה, אשר מקור האור וההוספה שלו הוא משמן, רזי דרזין דאורייתא, שמלימוד תורת החסידות המגלה גם רזי דרזין ועד להבנה והשגה בפועל, יחדיר האור בכל הענינים, ובלשון הכתוב, בכל דרכיך (ועד שיבואו להמטרה) דעהו, דע את אלקי אביך וכו' ומביאה ללב שלם מצוה רמה (כן צ"ל) ונשאה, ואדרבה עולה על כולנה (עיין קונטרס אחרון קנ"ו ב').
