By the grace of Hashem,

To the great Rav, Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav ... [1],

I greet and bless you,

I received your request for a brachah*. Without making a vow, I will read it at the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, on 19 Kislev.

The Tzaddik* who departs this world is present there more than during his lifetime. Assuredly, he will grant his blessing and Hashem will fulfill it, materially and spiritually.

With my blessing for the Yom Tov of our liberation and the redemption of your soul, and greeting your entire community,

You will find enclosed here [2] the transcript of the words said [3] on Shabbos Parshas Lech Lecha. You will find there the explanation of our custom for the first day of Rosh Hashanah.

You ask me about the 600,000 letters of the Torah. Consult on this the Mishnas Avraham, published in Zhitomir in 5628 [4], which compiles all the explanations developed on the matter.

You say that one must first transform one's own person. And must the whole world wait during that time?

Concerning your settlement, you should, in my opinion, immediately ask the opinion of the members of your family who are in Eretz HaKodesh*. You will inform me of it and then take your decision.

You complain of your moral situation. You must strengthen your study of the revealed part of the Torah and of Chassidus*. You will strive to spread the wellsprings outward. Thus you yourself will be liberated, for according to halachah, you will receive your portion first.

You will transmit to me the detailed account of everything now spent to release the seforim of Kehos Publication Society.
