Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8301 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of the third light (note 1: Of the festival of Chanukah*), which has just reached me and in which you bring me clarifications, in various domains. In conformity with the explanation of the Admur HaZaken* (note 2: See, on this subject, the preceding letter) on the verse: "And, Yaakov* lived in the land of Egypt," according to which it is possible to live even in Egypt (note 3: As long as one devotes oneself to the study of the Torah*), as the Hayom Yom* reports, at Parshas Vayechi*, that of this week, may Hashem grant that you introduce life into all that creates obstacles and that disturbs. This will hasten the fulfillment of the saying of our Sages (note 4: In tractate Taanis* 21a), affirming that "this too shall be for the good," so that everything be transformed into good.

It is known (note 5: See, on this subject, letter no. 6412 and the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 3, from page 393), indeed, that the saying: "this too shall be for the good" surpasses the affirmation of our Sages (note 6: In tractate Berachos* 60b) according to which: "All that Hashem does is for the good," with all the consequences that follow from this and that one can deduce from the accounts related by our Sages, on this subject. במענה למכתבו מנר השלישי שנתקבל ז"ע, בו כותב ר"פ במקצועות השונות,

ויהי רצון מתאים לתורת רבנו הזקן על הכתוב ויחי יעקב בארץ מצרים, אויך אין מצרים איז געווען ויחי, געלעבט (עיין היום יום פרשת ויחי, פרשת שבוע זה),

שכל הענינים המצירים ומעיקים יהי' בהם געלעבט וזה ימהר קיום מאמר חז"ל בכגון זה, גם זו לטובה, שזה עצמו נהפך לטוב,

וכידוע ההוספה בענין "גם זו לטובה" על הענין "כל מה דעביד רחמנא לטב עביד", ובהתוצאות מהנ"ל (כמובן גם מהסיפורים בזה שבחז"ל).
