I greet you and bless you,

After a long interruption, I have duly received your letter of this Tuesday, "when twice was said the word good" (note 1: During the Creation). You inform me therein of your state of health and of the opinion formulated by the various physicians, on this subject. Overall, it is difficult for me to understand, for it is clearly established, in this country, that a diet is effective, in the case of an ulcer, provided it is followed scrupulously. In this way, one can not only alleviate the pains, but also heal this ulcer. The tablets that are prescribed, in this matter, have no other purpose than to hasten the healing, to strengthen the health and to provide the vitamins that were lacking, owing to the diet. Now, none of these elements appear in your letter. It would therefore be judicious to verify these points with your attending physician.

Indeed, it is incumbent upon man to intervene, through the ways of nature (note 2: To obtain the healing). Thus, Hashem, Who heals all flesh and accomplishes wonders, will send His Word and He will heal you, through such a person (note 3: The physician) and such a treatment. Likewise, you inform me of the condition of your wife. May Hashem therefore grant her a satisfactory and easy pregnancy, that she have a child in good health, in due time and easily. With my blessing to give good news of all of this,

לאחרי הפסק ארוך נתקבל מכתבו מיום השלישי שהוכפל בו כי טוב, בו כותב אודות מצב בריאותו ודעת הרופאים שונים בזה.

ובכללות אינו מובן, שהרי מפורסם במדינה, שבעניני אולקוס מועילה דיעטא, באם שומרים אותה בדיוק, והתועלת לא רק שמשקיטה את הכאבים אלא גם בריפוי האולקוס, והכדורים (פילן) שמוסיפים בזה הם למהר הריפוי ולחזק הבריאות ולמלאות את החסר בויטאמין וכיו"ב מפני הדיעטא.

וכיון שממכתבו אין משמע כל זה, אולי כדאי שיברר וידבר עוד הפעם עם הרופא המטפל בו.

והרי על האדם לעשות בדרך הטבע והשי"ת הרופא כל בשר ומפליא לעשות ישלח דברו וירפאהו על ידי איש פלוני וטפול פלוני.
