By the grace of Hashem,

24 Teves* 5722,

I greet you and bless you,

After a long interruption, I have duly received your letter of 17 Teves*. Of course, I am interested in the details pertaining to what you write to me. Indeed, a man and his life are an assembly of various specific aspects, similar to these, including in the most important aspects. And, as we are commanded to believe in the Unity, in the most literal sense, a man must also unite all that concerns him, in the most perfect unity (note 1: To have a single guiding thread, in the entirety of his conduct). Our Sages, who express great ideas in short sayings and relate: "a small Parashah* upon which all the great principles of the Torah* depend," say, on this subject, in tractate Berachos* 63a: "in all your ways, know Him" and you will consult the explanation given, on this subject, in the laws of opinions of the great master, the Rambam*, as well as the halachic* ruling stated by the Shulchan Aruch*, Orach Chaim*, chapter 231.

Of course, it was particularly pleasant for me to learn, from your letter, of your good and firm will to elevate yourself on the path leading toward the house of Hashem, that of the study of our holy Torah*, with the conduct that follows from it. Indeed, we have been given the assurance (note 2: In tractate Yoma* 38b) that: "one comes to the aid of the one who wishes to purify himself." The response to your questions is found in the halachic* rulings that the Shulchan Aruch* states. With my blessing to give good news of all of this,

ומובן שמעונין אני בהפרטים אודותם כותב, שהרי האדם וחייו מצטרפים מפרטים כאלו ואפילו הענינים הכי עיקרים, וכמו שנצטוינו על ענין האחדות כפשוטו, כך על האדם להשתדל שיהיו כל עניניו מאוחדים ועד ליחוד גמור ובסגנון חז"ל [אשר כללו כללים גדולים בפתגם קצר, איזוהי פרשה קטנה שכל גופי תורה תלוים בה] בכל דרכיך דעהו (ברכות ס"ג א) ועיין הביאור בזה בהלכות דיעות להמורה הגדול הוא הרמב"ם פס"ד הלכה בשו"ע או"ח סי' רל"א.

כמובן ביחוד נעם לי לקרות במכתבו ע"ד רצונו הטוב גם חזק לעלות במסילה העולה בית א-ל לימוד תורתנו הק' והנהגה מתאימה לזה, והובטחנו הבא לטהר מסייעין אותו.
