Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8326 — Prayer

By the grace of Hashem,

11 Shevat* 5722,

Brooklyn, New York,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter (note 1: This letter was addressed to several people. See the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 4, page 1270 and the Sefer HaMaamarim* Basi LeGani*, volume 1, page 351). We are on the morrow of the twelfth Hilloula* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, leader of Israel. As stated by the beginning, the head of the twelfth chapter of the series of Chassidic* discourses entitled: "I have come into my garden" which my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, gave for the day of his Hilloula*, may Hashem grant that there be revealed the Light of the Ein Sof* here below, without limit and that there thus be unveiled the heavenly treasury, that of the Supreme King (note 2: The Rebbe notes, at the bottom of the page: "See the Likkutei Torah* Shir HaShirim*, page 14d"), the Holy One blessed be He, Who, above, is without end. It is regarding this that it is said (note 3: The Rebbe notes, at the bottom of the page: "See, on this subject, the series of Chassidic* discourses previously cited, chapters 17 and 11"): "An eye has not seen it" (note 4: The Rebbe notes, at the bottom of the page: "See tractate Sanhedrin* 99a: 'Reish Lakish* said...' And, Rashi*, at this reference, comments: 'An eye has not seen it, for there is no limit.' See also the Chassidic* discourse entitled: 'And Avraham* was aged' and the following discourses in the series of Rosh Hashanah* 5666").

To obtain victory in the battle, above, in the struggle of holiness against the forces of evil and here below, in the war of the divine soul against the animal soul, to strike the firstborn of Egypt, which represent the vigor and the power of the barriers and the limits, the vigor and the power of the forces of evil, one opens and one distributes the treasury, through the intermediary of the leaders, who are the officers, so that it reaches the simple soldiers.

May it therefore be so, in a visible and tangible good, as it is said: "May He open for you His good treasury," in conformity with the request (note 5: See, on this subject, letters no. 8196 and 8337): "Open for us Your good treasury." May all of this be realized, down to concrete action, which is essential, fully and "as it is fitting to do" (note 6: The Rebbe notes, at the bottom of the page: "According to the expression of tractate Kesubos* 67a"), through the study of the Torah*, of its revealed part and of Chassidus*, through fervent prayer and through the practice of the Mitzvos*. ובעמדנו למחרת יום ההילולא השנים עשר של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל,

יהי רצון - שכהתחלת וראש פרק השנים עשר של ההמשך באתי לגני - שנתן כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר ללמדו ביום ההסתלקות שלו - יתגלה אור א"ס למטה עד אין תכלית, ובזה יתגלה ג"כ האוצר דלמעלה,

אוצרו של ממה"מ הקב"ה, מה שהוא למעלה אין קץ, היא הבחינה דעין לא ראתה, ואשר בשביל נצוח המלחמה,

למעלה - מלחמת הקדושה נגד הקליפה, ולמטה - מלחמת נה"א נגד נה"ב,

להכות בכורי מצרים, תוקף ועוצם המצרים וגבולים, ותוקף ועוצם הקליפה -

פותחים ונותנים האוצר ע"י שרי הפקידים שהם פקידי החיל והכוונה בזה - הם אנשי החיל,

ויהי כל זה בטוב הנראה והנגלה, וכמ"ש יפתח ה' לך את אוצרו הטוב וכהבקשה ואוצרך הטוב לנו תפתח,

ויבוא כל זה בפועל ועד למעשה, שהוא העיקר, ובמילואו באופן כדבעי לי' למיעבד - בלימוד התורה (נגלה וחסידות) בעבודת התפלה ובקיום המצות.
