By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of 25 Shevat*, in which you indicate to me the manner in which you earn your living. You specify that certain people are pursuing you. Now, very often, one has the impression of being pursued by someone, when in reality, this is not at all the case or not in as acute a manner as one imagines. A man is not objective, concerning himself (note 1: According to tractate Yevamos* 28b). You will therefore take the counsel of friends, who are on the spot. Moreover, according to what you write, this has an effect on the manner in which you earn your living. In this matter as well, one must seek the counsel of those who are in your location.

It is quite evident that daily conduct in conformity with the teachings of our Torah*, Torah* of life and the practice of its Mitzvos*, of which it is said: "One shall live by them," elicits the blessing of Hashem in all needs. And, David*, the king of Israel, already said: "Hashem is with me. I do not fear what man can do to me." By strengthening one's trust in Hashem, Who grants His Providence to each one, one reinforces His blessing and reveals it most quickly, this is quite evident. It would be good to have your Tefillin* checked. In addition, every weekday, even if you have difficulties earning your living, you will set aside, before the morning prayer, a few coins for Tzedakah* (note 2: See, on this subject, letter no. 8279).

במענה למכתבו מכ"ה שבט, בו כותב אודות מצב פרנסתו אשר יש רודפים אותו וכו'

והנה לפעמים רבות נדמה שמי שהוא רודף אותו אף שלא תמיד הענין במציאות או עכ"פ לא באופן חריף כל כך כפי שנדמה לו, וכיון שאדם קרוב אצל עצמו, לכן יתייעץ בזה עם ידידיו במקום, ובפרט שככתבו הדבר קשור בענין פרנסתו שגם בזה יכולים לייעץ יותר אלה הדרים במקום.

ובודאי מובן ופשוט שהנהגה בחיי מיום יומים מתאימה להוראות תורתנו תורת חיים ובקיום מצותי' עליהן נאמר וחי בהם, ממשיכה ברכת השי"ת בהמצטרך, וכבר אמר דוד מלך ישראל ה' לי לא אירא מה יעשה לי אדם.

והתחזקות בבטחון בהשי"ת המשגיח על כאו"א בהשגחה פרטית מוסיפה בברכת השי"ת וממשיכתה בהקדם, וק"ל.

ומהנכון אשר יבדקו את התפילין שלו וכן אשר בכל יום חול קודם תפלת הבקר - מבלי הבט על הדוחק בפרנסה - יפריש פרוטות אחדות לצדקה.
