I bless you and greet you,

I respond to your letter of 23 Adar Rishon* (note 1: This letter is addressed to a woman), in which you describe to me your condition, concerning speech (note 2: In this case a stuttering problem). Very often, such a situation is linked to an event that provoked a nervous state, a tension. Not only will you put into practice the instructions of the physicians you consult, but, in addition, you will strengthen your trust in Hashem, Who grants His Providence to each one. It is said, indeed, that: "Hashem is with me. I am not afraid." When fear disappears, stuttering is immediately reduced (note 3: See, on this subject, letter no. 7173). Another solution is the following. When you stutter in pronouncing a word, do not persist in pronouncing it at all costs. Replace it with another word, if possible after allowing a few seconds to elapse, so that the tension subsides.

But, above all, what has just been said depends on the blessing of Hashem, Creator of man and Who directs him. Consequently, your daily conduct will be in conformity with the teachings of our Torah*, Torah* of life, with the practice of its Mitzvos*. For, this is also the channel and the receptacle allowing one to receive the blessing of Hashem in all your needs. Moreover, each of the daughters of Israel is a descendant of Sarah*, Rivkah*, Rachel* and Leah*. With my blessing that you give me good news of all of this,

במענה למכתבה מכ"ג אד"ר, בו כותבת מצבה בנוגע לדבור וכו'.

ולפעמים הכי קרובות קורה זה מפני מאורע שהי' קשור בעצבים ומתיחותם, שלכן נוסף על מילוי הוראת הרופאים שתשאל בעצתם, תתחזק בבטחונה בהשי"ת המשגיח על כל אחד ואחת בהשגחה פרטית, ואז הרי נאמר, ה' לי לא אירא, וכשתתמעט מדת היראה, בדרך ממילא יתמעט גם הגמגום וכו'.

ועוד מהעצות בזה, שכשנתקלת במלה שמגמגמה, לא תתעקש לבטא דוקא מלה זו, אלא תשתדל להחליפה במלה אחרת ומה טוב לאחרי איזה שניות שתעבור המתיחות.

והעיקר בכל האמור והרי כל דבר תלוי בברכת השי"ת יוצר האדם ומנהיגו, לכן הרי הנהגה בחיי היום יומים מתאימה להוראת תורתנו תורת חיים ובקיום מצותי' הרי זה גם צנור וכלי לקבלת ברכת השי"ת בהמצטרך, ובפרט שכל אחת מבנות ישראל נקראת בת שרה רבקה רחל ולאה.
