Volume 22 · Letter 157

By the grace of Hashem,

at the conclusion of Shabbos*

Parshas Shekalim* 5722,

Brooklyn, New York,

To those who participate in the annual dinner of the committee of

New York for the teachers' seminary and the professional school

for girls, in Kfar Chabad*, in our

Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I bless you and greet you,

One knows the saying of the Admur HaZaken*, founder of the Chabad* school, according to which one must live with the times, that is to say with the Sidra* of the week and the events reported therein. One can and one must draw from it a lesson for one's personal conduct. And, one must do so for oneself and for other people. The Sidros* of these weeks relate how the children of Israel, men and women, distinguished themselves by their immense enthusiasm and their great eagerness, when they erected the Sanctuary, in which the Divine Presence rested.

One of the teachings we can draw from this, at the present time, is the following. Every Mitzvah*, every idea of the Torah*, which is an Injunction of Hashem, must, has the obligation to awaken an ardent and warm feeling, in each one, in particular when it concerns the education of Jewish girls, in the true spirit of Judaism, in order to prepare them so that, when the time comes, they build their family life and construct a home of which one can justly say that it is a house in which the Divine Presence resides.

I hope that you will all act in the manner that has just been described. In addition, you will invite your friends and acquaintances to do likewise. May Hashem grant you success. With my blessing of success and to give good news,
