To the attention of the president of the community of Barcelona (note 1: See, regarding him, letter no. 8313),

I greet you and bless you,

I received, with delay, your letter, in which you mention the visit of Rav Michael Lipsker (note 2: Emissary of the Rebbe* to Meknes, Morocco, passing through Barcelona. See, on this subject, letter no. 8313) Shlita*. For my part, my response was delayed, for I was awaiting a letter from Rav Lipsker to know whether there were chances of satisfying your request (note 3: Presumably to find a young man, in Morocco, capable of assuring the teaching of the Torah* to the children of the community of Barcelona). Now, according to what he writes to me, there is not, among his students, at the present time, a young man likely to satisfy all the required conditions. Despite this, I asked him to pursue the effort in this direction (note 4: To continue seeking a candidate). You, for your part, will surely do all that is in your power, in this domain, for a traditional education is a vital need. The perpetuity of the community depends on it. I hope that an effort, taking natural paths and with the greatest firmness, will allow you to find the person suited to this function. And, the design of Hashem will know success through your intermediary. With my blessing to give good news, as well as for a joyous festival of Purim*,

מכתבו בו כותב על דבר ביקור הרב מיכאל שליט"א ליפסקר נתקבל באיחור, ומצדי נתעכב המענה כי חכיתי על מכתב הרב ליפסקר לדעת הסכויים למלא משאלותם.

לצערי, כנראה ממכתב הרב ליפסקר, אין לו לעת עתה אברך מתאים מבין תלמידיו שיוכל למלא כל התנאים הדרושים. אף על פי כן בקשתיו להוסיף להשתדל בזה. ובודאי גם כ' מצדו יעשה כל התלוי בו, כיון שחינוך מסורתי הוא הכרח חיוני וקיום הקהלה תלוי בזה. ותקותי שבהשתדלות בדרך הטבע ובהחלטה נחושה יעלה בידם להשיג אדם מתאים לאותה איצטלא וחפץ ה' בידם יצליח.
