By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

After a particularly long interruption, I have duly received your letter of this Sunday, in which you inform me of the proposal that has been made to you, that of exercising a leadership function in another country. You ask me what I think of it. Of course, I was horrified that you envisage abandoning the place in which you currently find yourself and the institutions you direct there, may Hashem guard us and preserve us from this. You will excuse me for telling you that it is surprising and particularly astonishing to be able to conceive such an idea. Indeed, you observe the situation of the country in which you currently find yourself and of those surrounding it. You can deduce from this to what extent such institutions are indispensable. Now, it is indeed you who direct them and who maintain them (note 1: The Rebbe* underlines the word: "maintain"). There is no need to say more, so evident is this. Quite the contrary, you must redouble your ardor in their direction, train students (note 2: The Rebbe* cites male and female students) who will be penetrated with fear of Hashem, having the worldview of the Torah* and of Chassidus*.

It is surely unnecessary to insist on what one can verify in practice. Only the Chassidic* vitality, clarity and warmth breathe sufficient strength to overcome the harsh trials confronting this orphaned generation, without making concessions on the various points of our Torah*, Torah* of life. You must understand what I mean. I await good news of all of this, including of your conclusion. These days belong, indeed, to the month of Adar*, during which one must multiply joy. And, the purpose is: "For the Jews, there was light." Now, "the light is the Torah*." With my respects and my blessing,

לאחרי הפסק הכי ארוך נתקבל מכתבו מיום הראשון בו כותב אודות ההצעה שקבל, משרת הנהלה במדינה אחרת וכו' ושואל דעתי בזה.

ומובן שנבהלתי אפילו להקס"ד לעזוב ח"ו וח"ו מקומו עתה והמוסדות אשר מנהל אותם.

כי, לאחרי בקשת סליחתו, פליאה ותמי' גדולה אפילו על הקס"ד זה, שהרי בודאי רואה המצב במדינתו עתה ובסביבותי' איך שמוכרחים מוסדות האמורים, והרי הוא המנהלם ומקיימם וכו'. ואין להאריך בדבר הפשוט, ובודאי, אדרבה, יוסיף אומץ בהנהלת מוסדות אלו להעמיד מחונכים-ות שי' חדורים יראת שמים והשקפת עולם תורנית חסידותית.

ובודאי למותר להאריך ע"ד הנראה במוחש שרק החיות האור וההתלהבות

שבחסידות נותנים כח די מספיק לעמוד בפני כל הנסיונות הקשים בהם נתנסה דור יתום זה, מבלי לוותר על כמה ענינים שבתורתנו תורת חיים וד"ל.

ואצפה לבשו"ט בכל הנ"ל - כולל גם בנוגע להסיום.

והרי הימים ימי חדש אדר שצריכים להרבות בשמחה, והתכלית הוא שיהי' ליהודים אורה זו תורה וכו' וכו'.
