To the attention of the great Rav, distinguished and agreeable Chassid*

who fears Hashem, devotes himself to communal needs,

has multiple fields of knowledge, Rav S. Y. (note 1: Rav Shlomo Yosef Zevin, of Yerushalayim*. See, regarding him, letters no. 7931, 8418 and 8660) Shlita*,

I greet you and bless you,

I send you a copy of the letter I am sending to the Chief Rabbi Nissim Shlita* (note 2: This refers to the preceding letter). The Chassidim* have surely spoken to you about this young man, who particularly merits this post. He is penetrated with the spirit of Chassidus* and he will therefore endeavor to be active in the domain of education and in the strengthening of Judaism based on sacred values. Hashem knows to what extent it is fundamental in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, to strengthen all possible positions, in this matter, in particular in our era. I do not know in what manner you yourself will be able to exert an influence, in this matter. Nevertheless, you will surely manage to intervene. Of course, you are authorized to do so in my name, if this can be of interest.

In these days (note 3: Of the month of Adar*) during which one multiplies one's joy, may Hashem cause the reasons for truly rejoicing to multiply, in communal domains and in individual concerns, for each of us, within all of Israel. I need you to truly excuse me (note 4: The Rebbe* underlines the word: "truly") for the delay with which I respond to your letters. But, what can I do? It is so for various reasons, on account of my many occupations which, of course, do not concern you (note 5: And, therefore do not justify this delay). Naturally, I hope that you will not fail to give me good news and that you will forgive me. With my respects and my blessing that you give me good news, including of what concerns you personally,

ובודאי שמע כת"ר שליט"א מאנ"ש שי' ע"ד האברך הנ"ל, ובינינו לבין עצמנו, יש לו זכות מיוחדת למשרה זו כי חדור הוא ברוח החסידות וממילא ישתדל להיות כח פעיל בחינוך ובחיזוק היהדות על טהרת הקדש, וה' הוא היודע עד כמה חיוני הוא באה"ק ת"ו לבסס כל עמדה אפשרית במקצוע זה ובתקופתנו בפרט.

איני יודע באיזה אופן יוכל כת"ר שליט"א להשפיע בזה, אבל בודאי שיכול לעשות בענין זה. ומובן שיכול דבר בשמי אם יביא תועלת.

ובימים אלו דמרבין בשמחה, יה"ר שירבו הענינים המעוררים שמחה אמיתית, בעניני הכלל והפרט, לכל אחד ואחד מאתנו בתוככי כלל ישראל.

לסליחת כת"ר רבא זקוק אני על עכוב מענותי על מכתביו. ומה אעשה והוא מסבות שונות וטרדות (ופשיטא שאינן תלויות בו). ופשוט שבטחוני שלא ימנע הטוב והסליחה.
