To the delegated students (note 1: Students of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch of New York, delegated to that of Kfar Chabad*. See, on this subject, letter no. 8375), may Hashem grant you

long days and good years,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of the eve of Rosh Chodesh* Iyar*, with what was enclosed. I thank you for the satisfaction you give me in informing me of your actions destined to disseminate Judaism, in general. Of course, this is in addition to the fact that: "the reward of the Mitzvah* is the Mitzvah* itself," as Chassidus* explains (note 2: See the Sefer HaSichos* 5749, volume 2, from page 642).

We are in the month of radiance (note 3: That of Iyar*, according to the expression of tractate Rosh Hashanah* 11b), in which were born those who illuminated this world (note 4: The Patriarchs, Avraham*, Yitzchak* and Yaakov*), who correspond to the three pillars upon which rest the world in the proper sense and the "small world" that man constitutes, that is to say the Torah*, prayer and good deeds. And, one confers merit upon the days which is by nature propitious (note 5: According to tractate Taanis* 29a). With my blessing to give me good news,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבם מער"ח אייר והמצורף אליו,

ות"ח על הנח"ר שגורמים ע"י ההודעה ע"ד פעולות בנקודת הפצת המעינות בתוככי הפצת היהדות בכלל, ומובן וגם פשוט שהנ"ל הוא בהוספה על הפעולה ששכר מצוה מצוה, כמבואר בדא"ח הענין בזה.

והרי נמצאים אנו בחודש זיו, בו נולדו זיותני עולם, שענינים שלשת העמודים, תורה עבודה וגמילות חסדים עליהם העולם (כפשוטו והעולם קטן זה האדם) עומד, ומגלגלין זכות ליומין זכאין.
