By the grace of Hashem,

24 Iyar* 5722,

Brooklyn,

To the directors of the network of evening Yeshivos*,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I received, with pleasure, your letter of 16 Iyar*, with what was enclosed. We find ourselves in the days that separate Lag BaOmer* from Shavuos*, time of the giving of our Torah*. May Hashem therefore cause the commentary of our Sages (note 1: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "Zohar*, volume 1, page 59b") on the verse: "How good and pleasant it is that brothers sit together" to be fulfilled, which refers to those who discuss the Torah*, who "struggle" (note 2: Allowing several different reasonings to confront one another) within it, then who are sitting together with friendship and fraternity. Furthermore, in the simplest sense, this is indeed about bringing hearts closer, making them sit together until they are totally united.

It is indeed in this manner that one prepares, that one forges a receptacle to receive the Torah*. As the Midrash Tanchuma* relates (note 3: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "Buber edition, cited by the Yalkut Shimoni*, Parshas Yisro*, paragraph 273"), when the Holy One, blessed be He, observed that: "Israel camped, facing the mountain," in the singular, He effectively gave the Torah*, its revealed part and its hidden dimension. May it therefore be so for all that is said in your letter. May the blessing and success be revealed in your sacred mission, previously defined and, in this way, in all the domains that concern you, both communal and personal. In conformity with the conclusion (note 4: Of the verse): "it is there that Hashem has ordained the blessing, living for eternity." With my blessing of success in your sacred mission and to give good news of all this,

ובעמדנו בימים שבין ל"ג בעומר פרוס העצרת ועצרת זמן מתן תורתנו, יהי רצון שיקוים פירוש חז"ל במ"ש מה טוב ומה נעים שבת אחים גם יחד, אותם העוסקים בשקו"ט ומלחמתה של תורה ולבתר איתהדרו ברחימותא דאחוה, נוסף על הענין כפשוטו קירוב הלבבות באופן דשבת (לשון התיישבות) גםיחד, עד להתאחדות גמורה,

והרי זהו ג"כ ההכנה וכלי לקבלת התורה, וכהסיפור בתנחומא, אשר בראות הקב"ה דויחן - לשון יחיד - ישראל נגד ההר, אז דוקא נתן התורה,

הן הנגלית והן הפנימית,

וכן יהי' בכל האמור במכ', ותשרה הברכה וההצלחה בעבודתם הקדושה האמורה, ועי"ז בכל עניניהם הכללים והפרטים גם יחד, וכהסיום, שם צוה ה' את הברכה חיים עד העולם.

בברכת הצלחה בעבודתם הקדושה ולבשו"ט בכל האמור.
