To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Chaim Mordechai (note 1: Rav Ch. M. Perlov, of Melbourne, Australia. See, regarding him, letters no. 6706 and 8448) HaKohen,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 25 Iyar*. Regarding the Mikveh*, your proposal is generally judicious (note 2: Rav Perlov wrote: "In my opinion, one must make the Mikveh* according to the opinion of the Rebbe Rashab*, whose merit will protect us and all of Israel, which means that there will be a basin above another, the water inlet being at the bottom. Of course, the Rabbanim* of the city have signified their agreement. However, they ask that one make another basin of rainwater, toward the top. This water will flow through it and will thereby authorize the running water, with the exception, of course, of the basin of rainwater which must always be ready in order to be able to change that which is stored below and that which is above. Even if this additional basin is not indispensable, it nonetheless constitutes an additional precaution." See, on this subject, letters no. 3140 and 8448). Nevertheless, you suggest, for a certain reason, adjoining a basin on the side. Now, the custom has spread recently, of making two (note 3: The Rebbe* underlines the word: 'two'), on each side, one for the water to pass through and the other to constitute a reservoir. This usage is particularly judicious, obviously.

... בענין המקואות - בכלל טובה הצעתו, אלא שבמקום ש(מסיבה) מציע לעשות בור המכשיר מן הצד - פשט לאחרונה לעשות ב' בורות מכשירים (מב' צדדים) א' - ע"י זריעה, ב' - ע"י השקה. ונכון במאד. וק"ל.

בענין המקוואות: במכתבו: דעתי היא שיתקנו המקוה כדעת כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהרש"ב זצוקללה"ה זי"ע ועכי"א מקוה על גבי מקוה שהשקה תהי' למטה.. מובן שהמה [רבני העיר] מסכימים לזה אבל אומרים שצריכים לעשות עוד בור א' של מי גשמים למעלה שבו יפלו ויתכשרו ג"כ המים הרגילים ע"י זריעה (וזה כמובן חוץ מהבור של מי גשמים שצריך שיהי' מוכן בכל פעם להחליף את מי ההשקה שלמטה וגם של הזריעה כנ"ל)..

אבל אף אם נאמר שאיננו נחוץ כ"כ אבל מ"מ יש בזה איזה הידור.
