By the grace of Hashem,

To the students,

I greet you and bless you,

I received, with pleasure, your letter of 4 Sivan*, relative to the end of the school year of the students of the eighth class, which will take place, with the help of Hashem, on 17 (note 1: The Rebbe* writes Tov, good, a word whose numerical value is seventeen) Sivan*. And, I was particularly pleased to learn that a portion of these students, in particular you yourselves who write to me, will continue their studies at the Yeshivah*. How happy you are and how good is your portion, you who have such a merit! I hope that you will influence the others so that all continue, at the Yeshivah*, the study of our holy Torah*, Torah* of life, so called because it gives life to those who study it and put it into practice. It instills not only eternal life, in the World to Come, but also life, in the most literal sense, in this world, a happy life, materially and spiritually. This will be for your good and for that of the members of your family. Indeed, the Mitzvah*: "You shall love your fellow as yourself," which is "a great principle of the Torah*," requires that you endeavor to influence the others, so that they also continue their studies at the Yeshivah*. And, "words emanating from the heart penetrate the heart."

These days, complements of the time of the giving of our Torah*, are propitious and I hope that you celebrated the festival of the receiving of the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner. You will therefore preserve this joy during all the days of the year. Thus, "each day, the words of the Torah* will be as new in your eyes," according to the Injunction of our Sages (note 2: See, on this subject, letter no. 8425), whose memory is a blessing, as when the Torah* was given, on Mount Sinai*, by Moshe* our master. I would be happy to have good news of all this. With my blessing of success in your study of the Torah* and in your practice of the Mitzvos*, in the best manner,

שלום וברכה!

בנועם קבלתי מכתבכם מיום ד' בסיון על דבר סיום התלמידים שי' של כיתה ח', שיתקיים אי"ה ביום טו"ב (י"ז) בסיון.

וביחוד נעם לי להוודע שחלק מהתלמידים, ואתם הכותבים בפרט, תמשיכו למודכם בישיבה. ואשריכם ומה טוב חלקכם שזכיתם לכך. ותקוותי שתשפיעו על האחרים שכולם ימשיכו בישיבה לימוד תורתנו הקדושה, תורת חיים, שנקראת כך על שם שהיא נותנת חיים ללומדי' ומקיימי', ולא רק חיים נצחיים בעולם הבא, אלא גם חיים כפשוטם בעולם הזה, חיים מאושרים בגשמיות וברוחניות, וכיוון שהעניין לטובתם ולטובת בני משפחתם, הרי מצוות ואהבת לרעך כמוך, שהיא כלל גדול בתורה, מחייבת שתשתדלו להשפיע עליהם להמשיך לימודם בישיבה, ודברים היוצאים מן הלב נכנסים אל הלב.

ימים אלו, ימי תשלומין לזמן מתן תורתנו, ימי סגולה הם, והתקווה שחגותם חג קבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות ותמשיכו משמחה זו בכל ימות השנה, עד שבכל יום ויום יהיו דברי התורה כחדשים בעיניכם, כציווי חכמינו זכרונם לברכה, כמו בשעה שניתנה התורה על ידי משה רבינו במעמד הר סיני.

וינעם לי להתבשר טוב בכל האמור.

בברכה להצלחה בלימוד התורה ובקיום המצוות בהידור.
