To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and assumes

a sacred mission (note 1: Teaching based on sacred values),

Rav Meir Tzvi (note 2: Rav M. Tz. Erentreu, of Manchester) HaKohen,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter, requesting a blessing, which will be read, at a propitious moment, near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us. Divine Providence has granted you the merit and the success of teaching the Torah* to the children of Israel, that is to say of watering those who will water in turn (note 3: To transmit the Torah* to disciples who, in turn, will know how to teach it to others). No doubt you therefore also devote yourself to the profound teaching of the Torah* which, in our era, has been revealed through Chassidus*.

Such is, indeed, the path that leads to the love and the fear of Hashem, as the Laws of the Foundations of the Torah* of our master the Rambam* explain, at the beginning of chapter 2, as well as various other texts. Another point, which is essential: concrete practice establishes that this is indeed so. Indeed, it is impossible to experience the love and the fear of Hashem without meditating upon it in the fitting manner. This is self-evident. You will also consult the introduction of the Chovos HaLevavos*. You surely have knowledge of the account of the festival of the liberation of 12 and 13 Tammuz*, that of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, leader of Israel. וכיון שהשגחה העליונה זיכתו והצליחתו ללמד תורה לבני ישראל, ז. א. טופח ע"מ להטפיח, בודאי עוסק גם בפנימיות התורה שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות, שהרי זוהי הדרך המביאה לאהבת ה' וליראת ה' כמבואר בהלכות יסודי התורה לרבנו הרמב"ם ריש פרק ב', ומבואר בכ"מ, ועוד והוא העיקר שרואים במוחש כן, שהרי אי אפשר לבוא לאהבה וליראה כ"א ע"י התבוננות מתאימה, וק"ל, ועיין ג"כ הקדמה לספר חובת הלבבות.

בודאי יודע מפרשת חג הגאולה י"ב וי"ג תמוז גאולת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל.
