I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of 17 Tammuz* (note 1: One of the fasts connected to the destruction of the Temple), which will be transformed into joy and gladness. You request my blessing. At a propitious moment, this request will be read near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us.

I read, with interest, that you will spend the summer in the vacation center, of which you will be the physician. I have good hope that you will treat not only the body of those who consult you, but also their soul. Furthermore, the doctors, in our era, have reached the conclusion that moral health has a great influence on physical health, far beyond what was imagined beforehand. Moreover, they themselves state the following saying: "a holy soul in a holy body."

In fact, one may think that such is the profound content of our faith, faith of the Unity, faith that shows the unifying element of the entirety of creation, its material aspects and its spiritual aspects. To someone like you, there is no doubt that there is no need to say more. And, the assurance has been given to us that "one comes to the aid of the one who wants to purify himself" (note 2: According to tractate Yoma* 38b. See the Likkutei Torah*, commentaries of Shemini Atzeres*, page 88b). Furthermore, one knows the clarification, in this regard, of the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, according to which one must also purify others. With my respects and my blessing to give me good news of all this,

N. B.: I have known, for a long time, the directors of this vacation center. I wish to hope that they will come to your aid, in the action that has just been described, to the fullest extent possible and with enthusiasm,

במענה למכתבו מי"ז תמוז - יהפך בקרוב לששון ולשמחה - בקשת ברכה פ"נ.

בעת רצון יקרא על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע,

בהתענינות קראתי אשר במשך הקיץ יהי' בתור רופא במחנה וכו',

והתקוה חזקה אשר ישתדל לא רק ברפואת הגוף של הפונים אליו, אלא גם ברפואת הנפש, ואדרבה, ובפרט שהרי גם הרופאים דתקופתנו באו לידי הכרה בגודל ההשפעה שיש לבריאות הנפש על בריאות הגוף, גדולה בהרבה מאשר שיערו מאז, כקבעם הסיסמא, נפש בריאה בגוף בריא.

ואת"ל הרי זה גם כן מתוכן הפנימי של אמונתנו, אמונת האחדות, אחדות המאחדת את כל הענינים אשר בבריאה, ענינים הגשמים והרוחנים, ובטח לדכוותי' האריכות בהאמור אך למותר.

והובטחנו, הבא לטהר - וידוע דיוק רבנו הזקן בעל התניא והשו"ע, לטהר (גם) אחרים - מסייעין אותו.

בכבוד ובברכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור.
