By the grace of Hashem,

To the attention of Mr. Yitzchak Katz,

mayor of Rechovot,

I greet you and bless you,

I received your greetings with pleasure, through the intermediary of Rav Yonah Eidelkopf and, before that, through Rav Binyamin Eliyahu Gorodetski. A new year begins and I therefore have good hope that you will renew your actions, in order to multiply the good and the holiness, with increased success, as mayor in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, for, as its name indicates, this Land is indeed holy. Now, the domains of holiness and of the good have their source in the infinite nature of Hashem and, consequently, they can always be expanded. Ascension therefore remains possible at all times, for all that belongs to holiness. Of course, what has just been said also includes the activities of Chabad* in your city. May Hashem grant you expansiveness, in conformity with the terms of the verse: "He called it Rechovos and said: henceforth, Hashem has granted us expansiveness and we will be fruitful in the land."

On the occasion of the new year, which arrives, for us and for all of Israel, for the good and for the blessing, I send you my wishes, to yourself and to all your family, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, both materially and spiritually. With my respects and my blessing,

בנועם קבלתי הפ"ש על ידי הרב יונה שי' איידלקופ, וקודם לכן על ידי הרב רב"א שי' גורודצקי.

כיון שמתחדשת השנה, תקותי שיחדש פעולותיו להרבות הטוב והקדוש בתוספת הצלחה בתור ראש עיר בארצנו הקדושה ת"ו, שכשמה כן היא, ארץ הקדש יקרא לה.

והרי בעניני קדושה וטוב שמקורם באין-סוף ב"ה תמיד יש מקום להוספה ולהעלות בקדש, ובכלל זה, כמובן, גם פעולות חב"ד במחנו הט'. ויהי רצון שיהי' בהרחבה, וכסגנון הכתוב ויקרא שמה רחובות ויאמר כי עתה הרחיב ה' לנו ופרינו בארץ.

ולקראת השנה החדשה, הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, ברכתי שלוחה לכ' ולכל אשר לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
