Igrot Kodesh · Letter 854 — Grief & Loss

Volume 4 · Letter 89 · [9 Tévet 5711]

[9 Teves 5711]

I duly received, in its time, your letter of 6 Kislev. I read the request for blessing it contained at the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe.

I was particularly pleased to learn that you are teaching Chassidus* in the shul*. May Hashem protect you from interrupting this study, which has undoubtedly had and will continue to have positive effects. It is therefore necessary to widen the circle of those who listen to you, and that there be among them young people as well.

In fact, the diffusion of Chassidus* should be your essential activity, and not the collection of funds.

In order to repair the sins of youth[1], it is necessary, first and primarily, to lead the young people to yiras Shamayim*, to Torah and to mitzvos*. It is also necessary to increase the words of Torah and of tefillah*[2]. But the first point[3] constitutes the essential matter.

Notes

(1) Wasted seed.

(2) Spoken aloud.

(3) Action with the youth.
