To Mr. Menachem Begin (note 1: See, regarding him, letter no. 8399),

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of the 6th of Teves*. It is unnecessary to underline to what extent it was pleasant for me to read that you will pursue your appeals for the return of Israel (note 2: See, on this subject, the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 33, at page 239) in the upcoming commissions and meetings, as Mr. Yosef Karleman transmitted to me, in particular among the young.

I enclose a copy of my letter (note 3: Printed in the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 33, at page 238) that was addressed to the center of the Cherut* movement (note 4: Directed by Menachem Begin) in response to the invitation that I had the honor of receiving. In fact, the commission convenes on a favorable day, that of the Hilula* of the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*. Moreover, this year is the one hundred and fiftieth since his passing. With my respects and my blessing,

הנני מאשר קבלת מכתבו מיום ו' בטבת, ולמוותר להדגיש כמה נעם לי במיוחד לקרוא בו שימשיך בקריאה דשובה ישראל גם בועידות והכנוסים העתידים, כפי שמסר לי מר יוסף שי' קלרמן, וביחוד בקרב הנוער.

מצורף בזה העתק מכתבי למרכז תנועת החרות במענה על ההזמנה שנתכבדתי בה.

והרי הועידה מתכנסת ביום סגולה, יום הסתלקות אדמו"ר הזקן בעל התניא והשולחן ערוך, ובפרט שבשנה זו תמלאינה 150 שנה להסתלקות-הילולא שלו.
