To Mr. Tzvi (note 1: Mr. T. Gileon, of Tel Aviv),

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of the 27th of Teves*. I read therein with pleasure that the situation has improved. May Hashem cause it to continue to do so until it becomes fully satisfactory. In this matter, the teaching of our Sages applies (note 2: In tractate Megillah* 6b) according to which: "if you make efforts, they will be fruitful." However, the effort, in this case, consists in no longer thinking about what has happened, in taking an interest in and meditating only on what arouses joy. In fact, Hashem, Creator of the world and of man, is the Essence of good. And, it is in the nature of He Who is good to do good.

As you know, this year is the one hundred and fiftieth since the passing of the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*. Now, as our Torah*, Torah* of life, teaching for life, says, the finality of remembrance is to motivate and to encourage to redouble in ardor to advance on the path that he whose Hilula* we celebrate taught us. I therefore have good hope that: "we will follow his ways for eternity," according to the expression of the author of the Tanya*, in his Igeres HaKodesh*, at chapter 27. מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מז"ך טבת, ונעם לי לקרות בו על הטבת המצב, ויהי רצון שיוטב עוד יותר ועד לשיפור גמור.

וגם בכגון זה יש להמליץ מאמר חז"ל יגעת ומצאת [אלא שהיגיעה בכגון זה היא דוקא על ידי היסח הדעת והתענינות והתבוננות בענינים של שמחה], והרי השם יתברך בורא העולם ויוצר האדם והוא עצם הטוב ומטבע הטוב להיטיב.

תקותי אשר ידוע למר אשר השנה שנת הק"ן להילולא של כ"ק אדמו"ר הזקן, בעל התניא והשולחן ערוך וכמו בכל שאר עניני זכרון ע"פ תורתנו תורת חיים (הוראה בחיים) מובן שהכוונה היא שהזכרון יעורר ויעודד לתוספת אומץ בהליכה בדרכיו אשר הורנו (של בעל ההילולא) "ונלכה באורחותיו נצח סלה ועד" (לשון בעל התניא באגרת הקדש שלו סי' ז"ך).
