Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8588 — Faith & Bitachon
Volume 22 · Letter 371 · To: banquet annuel des auxiliaires féminines
By the grace of Hashem,
11 Shevat* 5723,
Brooklyn, New York,
To the annual banquet of the women's auxiliaries
of Brownsville and East New York for the
Yeshivos* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch,
I greet you and bless you,
I learned, with pleasure, of your annual banquet, which will take place on the 23rd of Shevat*. I wish much success to all those who bring their active participation or their collaboration to this event, in every possible manner. We have just lived the thirteenth Hilula* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, who implanted the Yeshivos* Lubavitch in this country, twenty-three years ago. Thank Hashem, these Yeshivos* have known success and the women's auxiliaries have a determining part in all of this.
This year is the one hundred and fiftieth since the passing of the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, founder of Chabad*. It is therefore particularly favorable for all those who support these sacred institutions, directed in his spirit and in conformity with his teachings, all those who take part therein. The first work published by the Admur HaZaken* (note 1: At Shklov, in 5554 (1794)) is the Laws of the Study of the Torah* (note 2: The Rebbe* underlines the words: "Laws of the Study of the Torah," "Torah of truth" and "Torah of life"). He thus underlined that the primary objective of a Jew is the study of the Torah*, that it is fitting also to support it, to base one's daily existence upon it. Indeed, the holy Torah* is called Torah* of truth and Torah* of life, for it confers its true content upon Jewish life, brings true happiness, both material and spiritual.
May Hashem cause you to assume your positive action in an increased proportion, to the measure of the need, since all that belongs to holiness and to good must develop and spread. The merit of this Mitzvah* will bring you, as well as the members of your family, the blessings of Hashem, in an ever-increasing proportion, in all your needs, material and spiritual. With my blessing of success and to give me good news,
M. Schneerson,
