By the grace of Hashem,

To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

of good conduct, the Rav Issachar (note 1: Rav I. Lewin) Shlita*,

I greet you and bless you,

I learned, with pleasure, that you have reached old age (note 2: That is to say seventy years, according to tractate Avos*, chapter 5, at Mishnah* 23). On this occasion, your friends and your close ones honored you, during a special celebration.

I therefore wish you to pass from this old age to that which involves rigor (note 3: That is to say eighty years, according to the same reference), then to surpass this age, and you will use the capacities that Divine Providence has granted you, the means at your disposal, for the purpose of disseminating traditional Judaism, without compromise, in your city and in your community, in every place where your influence extends. You will act and you will do all of this in joy, as the great master, the Rambam*, teaches (note 4: At the end of his laws of the Lulav*). Furthermore, the importance of the joy of the Mitzvah* is underlined and it is explained by Chassidus*. It is detailed, in particular, by the books of the Admur HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, this year being the one hundred and fiftieth since his passing. בנועם נודעתי אשר כת"ר הגיע לשנות שיבה וכבוד עשו לו ידידיו ומעריציו במסיבה מיוחדת.

והנני לאחל לכת"ר שילך משיבה טובה לגבורות ועוד יותר, וינצל כשרונותיו שחונן בהם על ידי ההשגחה העליונה והאפשריות להפצת היהדות המסורתית בלי פשרות בעירו ובקהלתו ובכל מקום שידו מגעת, ויעשה ויפעול מתוך שמחה כהוראת המורה הגדול הרמב"ם, ובפרט כמודגש ומבואר גודל ענין שמחה של מצוה בתורת החסידות, ובאריכות בספרי רבינו הזקן בעל התניא והשו"ע, שהשנה היא שנת הק"נ להסתלקותו.
