To the Rav, distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem,

Rav Chanoch Hendel[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter of 2 Teves, while I was concerned about your long silence, which is unusual, although you have still not indicated why you stopped writing for so long.

I was pleased to learn that you duly received the kuntreisim* and the letters that were enclosed with them, that you gave them the dissemination they deserve, that a Chassidic farbrengen* took place on 19 Kislev and on the fifth light of Chanukah. You specify that people who are not yet Chassidim also participated in it. You will surely redouble your efforts in this direction, so that there be fulfilled the promise of the Holy One, blessed be He, transmitted by our Sages, according to which "if you open for Me an opening like the eye of a needle, I will open for you one like the entrance of the Heichal*."

Last point, which is the most important: I duly received the five packages containing manuscripts of Chassidus*. I thank you very much for them and ask you to multiply such shipments in the future. Indeed, one can undoubtedly find very many ancient manuscripts of Chassidus* in Yerushalayim*, and there is good hope that there will result from this what is good for the multitude. Indeed, in these manuscripts one finds explanations of our Rebbeim, the leaders of Chabad, that are still unpublished. The collective merit therefore depends on you, and you will thus receive blessing and success in everything that pertains to you, and to all of yours.

I point out to you in particular the writings of Rav Ch. E. Bichowski[2]. I possess only a few of them, and there are undoubtedly many others.

I will also gladden you by informing you that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, transmitted to me, this winter, the manuscript of the Pelach HaRimon[3] on Shemos that you sent him a year ago, and he asked me to publish it. I am currently preparing it for publication.

At the same time, I told my father-in-law, the Rebbe, that some Chassidim hold it against me that I proposed publishing this Pelach HaRimon, considering that we should limit ourselves to the teaching of our Rebbeim, the leaders of Chabad. My father-in-law, the Rebbe, dismissed this criticism and ordered me to publish this sefer*.

נתקבל מכתבו מב' טבת, וכבר דאגתי לשתיקתו הארוכה אשר לא הורגל בזה, אף כי גם עתה אינו מבאר סיבת הפסק הארוך במכתביו.

נהניתי לקרא אשר קבל כל הקונטרסים והמכתבים המצורפים אליהם, ופרסמם באופן המתאים, וכן אשר ערכו בי"ט כסלו ובנר חמישי התועדות אנ"ש וצרפו לזה גם אלו אשר לע"ע אינם עדיין מאנ"ש. ובטח יוסיפו אומץ בזה ותקויים הבטחת הקב"ה כמאמר רז"ל פתחו לי פתח כחודו של מחט ואני אפתח לכם כפתחו של אולם...

ואחרון אחרון חביב אאשר קבלת ה' חבילות של ביכלעך מאמרי דא"ח. ת"ח ת"ח על העבר ובקשה רבה כפולה ומכופלת גם על להבא לשלוח כגון האי, אשר בטח נמצא בירושלים עיה"ק ת"ו ת"י כמה ביכלעך מאמרי דא"ח ישנים, אשר נוסף על כל הענינים הרי יש לקוות בזה תועלת לרבים ג"כ, כי בביכלעך כאלו יש ונמצאו דרושים עתיקים מנשיאינו נשיאי חב"ד אשר עדיין לא נתפרסמו. ואקוה שבמשך הזמן נפרסמם באופן המתאים, וזכות הרבים תלוי בו להמשיך לו ברכה והצלחה בהמצטרך לו ולב"ב שי'.

אעוררו בפרט להביכלעך שנשארו מאת הרה"ח וכו' וכו' הרח"א ביכאווסקי, אשר רק אחדים מהם... נמצאים עתה תחת ידי, ובטח ישנם עוד כמה וכמה.

כן אוכל לשמחו, אשר הביכל של פלח הרימון על שמות ששלח אשתקד אל כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ מסרו לי בחורף העבר בהוסיפו אשר כדאי להדפיסו. והנני מכינו עתה להוציאו לאור.

- בה בשעה מסרתי לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ אשר יש מהחסידים שמתרעמים עלי על אודות הצעתי להדפיס את פלח הרימון זה, באמרם שאנו אין לנו אלא תורת נשיאינו, נשיאי חב"ד, וביטל כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ את התערומות וציוה להדפיס ספר זה. -
