To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to

communal needs, filled with eagerness,

the Rav Tzvi Dov (note 1: Rav T. D. Konotovski),

I greet you and bless you,

Despite my desire to meet you personally, especially after the conference you gave on science and religion, I did not succeed, due to my numerous activities. Thus, the terms of the Mishnah* were accomplished in me (note 2: Tractate Avos*, chapter 2, at Mishnah* 4): "Do not say, when I have the time I will study..." (note 3: For perhaps you will not have the time). In any event, I thank you in writing for having addressed to me a copy of the text of this conference, until we are able to meet, as I profoundly wish. Of course, the essential object of the present letter is to wish you blessing and success, for your appointment to the position of rabbi of your community. I enclose a copy of the letter I address to the president of the synagogue, in response to his invitation (note 4: To the celebration of this appointment).

May Hashem cause you to use your capacity in the Torah* in order to direct your community in a peaceful manner, to disseminate traditional Judaism, without compromise, within your community, in general, among the youth, in particular, as well as in every place where your influence extends. To someone like you, it is surely unnecessary to say to what extent this is fundamental, in particular in our days.

You will therefore accomplish all of this in joy, truly liberating yourself from all obstacles and all barriers, from all that prevents the service of Hashem in joy and enthusiasm, as the days of Pesach*, time of the gift of our freedom, which approaches, indicate, for us and for all Israel, for good. With my respects and my blessing for a kosher and joyous Pesach* celebration,

שלום וברכה!

למרות רצוני להפגש עמו פא"פ, ובפרט אחרי נאומו על מדע ודת, לא אסתייע מילתא מרוב הטרדות, ונתקיים אצלי דבר משנה אל תאמר לכשאפנה אשנה כו'. ועכ"פ אודה לו בכתב בעד שלחו לי העתק נאומו הנ"ל. עד התראותינו פא"פ סו"ס כתקותי חזקה.

עיקר מכתבי, כמובן, להביע לו ברכה והצלחה לרגלי קבלתו כתב רבנות בבית הכנסת שלו, ומצורף בזה העתק מכתבי לנשיא בית הכנסת במענה על ההזמנה.

ויהי רצון שינצל חילו באורייתא לנהל עדתו על מי מנוחות, ולהפיץ היהדות המסורתית בלי פשרות בקהלתו בכלל, ובתוככי הנוער בפרט ובכל מקום שידו מגעת.

ולמותר להאריך לדכוותי' בצורך החיוני בזה, בפרט בימינו אלה.

ויעשה כ"ז מתוך שמחה וחירות אמתית מכל מצרים וגבולים ומכל ענינים המבלבלים עבודת השם בשמחה וטוב לבב, כענין ימי חג הפסח זמן חרותינו הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה.
