I greet you and bless you,

On the occasion of the festival of Matzos*, time of our freedom, which approaches, for us and for all Israel, for good, I address to you, as well as to all the others, my wishes for a kosher and joyous celebration, for a true freedom, material and spiritual freedom, freedom from all that constitutes an obstacle, a service of Hashem in joy and enthusiasm. Then, you will preserve this freedom and this joy during all the days of the year. With my respects and my blessing,

I learned, with pleasure, that, in the new edition of your collection of commentaries, you set aside the condemnable opinions that appeared in the first edition. I have not seen this work, but the source from which I hold this information is reliable. I was therefore satisfied by it, I congratulate you and I wish you to continue in this direction. The quality of man is his capacity to progress (note 2: See, on this subject, in particular, the Torah Or*, Parshas Vayeshev*, at page 30a). In this sense, they surpass the highest angels, who do but stagnate. Such is the meaning of the daily exodus from Egypt, which liberates from the barriers and the limits, allows to elevate oneself, by successive stages.

Of course, the act is essential, that is to say the practice of the Mitzvos*, in an effective manner, for in this also, and especially in this, one must know elevation in the domain of holiness, which includes the Precept: "You shall love your fellow as yourself," underlines the importance of guiding this fellow. It seems to me I have already told you, and even written, in my previous correspondence, that the youth is ready to listen to much more than one imagines. This subject is also treated in my letter, addressed to all (note 3: It concerns letter no. 8614), which makes reference to current events and which I enclose.

לקראת חג המצות, זמן חירותינו, הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה, הנני להביע לו ולכל אשר לו חג כשר ושמח וחירות אמתית, חירות בגשם וברוח, חירות מכל ענינים המבלבלים עבודת ה' בשמחה ובטוב לבב,

ולהמשיך מחירות ושמחה זו בכל ימות השנה.

נעם לי להוודע שבמהדורה החדשה של ספרו על הפרושים דוחה דיעות נפסדות שנכנסו לתוך ספרו במהדורא קמא, ואף שלא ראיתי את ספרו, אבל נאמן הוא המקור שממנו נובעת הידיעה הנ"ל שהיתה לי לקורת רוח ועל כגון דא אומר לו יישר חילו וימשיך בכיוון זה. והרי מעלת האדם היא שהוא מהלך (שבזה נעלה הוא גם על מלאכי עליון שאינם אלא עומדים). וזהו גם ענין של יציאת מצרים בכל יום - לצאת מן המצרים והגבולים ולעלות גם עלה, בעלי' אחרי' עלי'. ומעשה הוא העיקר, כמובן, קיום המצות מעשיות שגם בזה, ובפרט בזה, צריך להיות מעלין בקדש, כולל מצות ואהבת לרעך כמוך בהדגשה ובהשפעה על הזולת. וכבר מלתי אמורה, וכמדומה לי גם כתבתי לכ' במכתבי הקודם, שהנוער מוכן ומזומן לשמוע ולקבל הרבה יותר מאשר משערים. ועוד בענין זה במכתבי הכללי מענינא דיומא המצ"ב.
