Igrot Kodesh · Letter 8636 — Faith & Bitachon

Volume 22 · Letter 419

By the grace of Hashem,

the day after Shavuos* 5723,

one hundred and fiftieth year of the

passing of the Admur HaZaken*,

Brooklyn, New York,

To all the participants in the annual dinner of the committee of

New York for the teachers' seminary (note 1: The Rebbe* underlines the words: "teachers' seminary") and

the professional school for young women at Kfar Chabad*,

in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I bless you and greet you,

We have just experienced the festival of Shavuos*, the time of the giving of our Torah*. Each of the participants will therefore surely remember the great merit of Jewish women, whose assent (note 2: According to the Mechilta*, cited by the commentary of Rashi* on the verse Yisro* 19:3) was necessary even before that of the men, in order to receive the Torah* on Mount Sinai*.

Of course, this merit confers a particular responsibility upon Jewish women, who must do everything in their power to strengthen and disseminate the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, not only within their own home, but also outside of it. They will strengthen, above all, education based on sacred values, which is the foundation of the practice of the Torah* and the Mitzvos* in daily life.

The work of your committee is directly linked to the responsibility and the merit that have just been defined. I therefore wish to hope that you will devote yourselves to it with ever-increasing abnegation and that, in addition, you will convince new friends, other supporters. You will accomplish all this with joy and enthusiasm.

May Hashem grant you success in your holy mission, which is also the channel and the receptacle allowing one to obtain the blessings of Hashem in all your needs, both material and spiritual. With my blessing for success, as well as to give me good news,
