of the liberation, 12 and 13 Tammuz* 5723,

one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the passing

of the Admur HaZaken*,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter (note 1: The Rebbe* addressed this letter to several people. See the Likkutei Sichos*, volume 8, at page 333). One of the notions relating to the present period is the following. Before this liberation (note 2: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "See, in detail, the Kuntres* of 12 and 13 Tammuz* 5691, in the Sefer HaKuntresim*, from page 175"), there was the following prayer and request (note 3: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "See the addenda to the Torah Or*, at the end of the Chassidic* discourse entitled: 'And, I, I have given'") of the one who experienced it, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, chief of Yisrael*: "May Hashem our Elokim* be with us as He was with our ancestors. May He not abandon us and not forsake us."

According to the second interpretation given of this verse and which was then mentioned by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, this prayer is (note 4: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "See the Midrash* Vayikra Rabbah*, chapter 10, paragraph 5") also the formulation of an assurance. In fact, all the peoples of the earth were witnesses to the fulfillment of the verse: "Hashem is with me, for those who come to my aid" and they lavished upon him every good (note 5: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "See the Chassidic* discourses entitled: 'Hashem is with me' and 'He lavishes benefits,' in the same pamphlet").

Every year, when these days return, the moment is propitious for each one and one is encouraged to take good resolutions, in order to follow the path of the fathers who gave of themselves for the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, particularly in the domains in which the one whose liberation we celebrate showed all his abnegation. In this way, "Hashem his Elokim* is with him," without pain and without effort (note 6: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "See the Likkutei Torah*, in this Parashah*, in the Chassidic* discourse entitled: 'He did not observe' and in its commentary"). Each one will elevate himself, from one level to the next (note 7: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "At the end of tractate Berachos*: 'One who goes...' On the other hand, the Admur HaZaken*, in his Shulchan Aruch*, Orach Chaim*, at the beginning of chapter 155, rules the Halachah* according to the following version: 'Whoever goes'"), until (note 8: The Rebbe* notes, at the bottom of the page: "Midrash* Tehillim*, Psalm 84"): "one will see Hashem in Tzion*," at the time of the collective deliverance, true and complete. ומעניני ימים אלה: קדמה לגאולה זו, תפלת ובקשת בעל הגאולה, הוא כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל: יהי ה' אלקינו עמנו כאשר הי' עם אבותינו אל יעזבנו ואל יטשנו - וכפי שפירשה וביארה - ל' תפלה ובקשה, ותוכנה.

ותפלה עושה - וכפי' השני בכתוב (שאמרו אז כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר) ל' הבטחה, אשר ראו כל עמי הארץ כי נתקיים בו "הוי' לי בעוזרי גו'" וגמלו כל טוב.

ובכל שנה ושנה בתקופת ימים אלה - עת רצון היא לכאו"א והתעוררות להחלטות טובות ללכת בדרכי אבות בעלי מסירת נפש על התומ"צ, ובפרט הענינים עליהם מסר נפשו בעל הגאולה, ועי"ז ה' אלקיו עמו ואין און ועמל, כ"א ילך מחיל אל חיל; ועדי היכן - עד יראה אל אלקים בציון, בגאולה הכללית האמתית והשלימה.
