To the distinguished Chassid, who fears Hashem,
Rav Dov Cahanovitch,
Greetings and blessings,
In reply to your letter of 6 Teves, in which you ask that the seforim* of the Tzemach Tzedek be made available to you. So that the publications of Kehot* shall be available to all who desire them, we are currently seeking the means to place them in public locations[1] to which all may have access, in various cities of our Eretz HaKodesh*.
These seforim* will also be sent to Yerushalayim, and all who wish to gain knowledge of Chassidus* will be able to go to that place and quench their thirst there. You yourself will be able to consult avidly the seforim* of our Rebbeim, the leaders of Israel — the Alter Rebbe, the Mitteler Rebbe, the Tzemach Tzedek, the Rebbe Maharash, the Rebbe Rashab, and my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us.
I would like to know whether you are exercising rabbinical functions also in Yerushalayim, and the times set for the study of Torah in your community.

במענה על מכתבו מו' טבת בו מבקש לכבדו בספרי הצ"צ, הנה כדי שיהיו ספרי קה"ת מצויים לכל דורש, מסדרים אנו עתה להמציא ספרינו למקום כללי פתוח לרבים, בכמה מעיירות ארצה"ק ת"ו, וגם לירושלים עיה"ק ת"ו נשלחו כל הספרים הנ"ל, והי' כל שוחר דא"ח יבוא לשם לרוות צמאונו, ובטח גם כ' יוכל לשתות בצמא מספרי קדושי ישראל ונשיאיו, כ"ק אדמו"ר הזקן, כ"ק אדהאמ"צ, כ"ק אד' הצ"צ, כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהר"ש, כ"ק אדמו"ר מהורש"ב, וכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ, זצוקללה"ה, נבג"מ, זי"ע.
אתענין לדעת אם מכהן הוא במשרת הרבנות ג"כ בירושלים, ואיזה קביעות עתים לתורה ישנם בעדתו וכו'.
