On the occasion of the new year — the seventh year, that of the Shemittah* — which is coming, for us and for all Israel, for good and for blessing, I send you my blessing, as well as to all those close to you: a blessing that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, both materially and spiritually. With my respects and blessing,

P.S. On this occasion, I would like to know whether certain information reported to me is genuinely well-founded. I have been told that Dr. Daphné A. Raw of Cornell University has discovered the cause of psoriasis, a skin disease. It would apparently be a hereditary allergy contracted by patients who have a deficiency of foods containing certain elements, primarily those found in meat and fish. In the past I have referred two people suffering from this disease to you. I therefore thank you for sharing your opinion on the matter and for telling me whether this treatment is indeed being applied.

ראו של קארנעל אוניברסיטה גילתה הסיבה למחלת העור סאראיאסיס, שהיא באה מחמת אלרגי' לטאורין העוברת בירושה; ושלכן הטיפול במחלה האמורה הוא להקטין מידת הטאורין של החולה ע"י מיעוט אכילת מאכלים המכילים טאורין, בעיקר בשר ודגים.

וכיון שבעבר שלחתי לכ' שני אנשים שסבלו מחלה האמורה, ת"ח מראש אם יודיע לי חוו"ד על דבר הנ"ל ואם משתמשים בטיפול האמור.
