To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessing,

In reply to your letter of 28 Shevat, informing me that you wish to honor the communal leader Rav Moshe Morgenstern by inviting him to be guest speaker at the annual yeshiva dinner. You ask me what I think of this. You also request a blessing that your efforts be crowned with success.

It is good that you invite this leader.

May Hashem grant that you have success, both in the material realm and in the spreading of the wellsprings of Chassidus* outward.

I have already said several times that, in my opinion, sadness has brought about contraction[2]. When you spread out throughout the entire city, you will know expansiveness, at least partially, at first.

It is in this way that one widens the keilim* and limbs[3], so that one consequently draws down more intense lights that will be revealed in the lowest realm and cause the fundraising to be fruitful—so that, in the most simple sense, one will have wider financial means.

This is a mitzvah* for which no one else can take on your responsibility and receive your merit.

שלום וברכה!

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ח שבט, המודיע כי עלה בדעתם לכבד את העסקן ר' משה שי' מארגענשטערן להזמינו בתור אורח מרצה על המשתה השנתי של הישיבה ושואלים עצתי בזה. וכן מבקשים ברכה להצליח בתעמולתם וכו'.

נכון הדבר שיזמינו את העסקן הנ"ל,

ויהי רצון שיצליחו בתעמולתם הן בגשמיות והן בהפצת מעינות החסידות חוצה.

כבר אמרתי כמה פעמים שלדעתי נצטמצ[מ]ו ביותר בד"א עוצבות (תרתי משמע).

וכאשר יתפשטו בעיר ויצאו למרחב - עכ"פ במקצת בהתחלה - ה"ז התרחבות הכלים והאיברים, ובמילא ממשיכים תוס' אורות אשר בהשתלשלותם למטה מטה נעשה ג"כ ריבוי במעות המגבית - פשוט מער געלט, וה"ז מצוה שאין אחר יכול להוציא אותם ידי חובתם וזכותם.
