To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Yisrael Nachum HaLevi*,

I greet and bless you,

I am replying to your letter of 17 Tevet*, with its enclosure. You inform me of your state of health and communicate to me the doctor's opinion. I therefore respond to the question you pose me. In this case, you shall act in accordance with the converging opinions of two doctors. Another point, which is essential: you shall place your trust in Hashem, blessed be He, Who heals all flesh and performs wonders. You shall therefore have the conviction that the treatment will be a success and that recovery will be near.

On this occasion, I wish to express the hope that you participated in the Chassidic* gathering of 19 Kislev*. You are surely familiar with the account of those events — the imprisonment and the liberation. May Hashem therefore grant that you also bring me good tidings of gatherings such as that one. I mean that you will draw from it the motivation, the light, and the vitality for all that pertains to goodness and holiness. It is certain that for someone like you, there is no need to say more. With my blessing for recovery and to give me good tidings,

במענה למכתבו מי"ז טבת עם המצורף אליו, בו כותב בענין בריאותו ודעת הרופא וכו'.

ובמענה לשאלתו בזה, יעשה כדיעה אחידה של שני רופאים, ועוד ועיקר - ישים בטחונו בהשי"ת הרופא כל בשר ומפליא לעשות שיצליח הטפול ותהי' רפואתו קרובה.

בהזדמנות זו אביע תקותי, אשר השתתף בהתועדות י"ט כסלו, אשר בודאי ידועה לו פרשת יום זה המאסר והגאולה. ויהי רצון שגם בנוגע לתכלית התועדות כאלו, יבשר טוב בזה, כוונתי לקחת מההתעוררות אור וחיות לימים הבאים לאחרי ההתועדות בכל עניני טוב וקדושה, ובודאי לדכוותי' האריכות בזה למותר.
