We will conclude by evoking the event of the day. Our Sages say that, although the First Temple was destroyed because of the sins that had been committed at that time, the Jews could nevertheless have been saved if the Torah had retained its importance in their eyes. The luminary that it contains would have brought them back to better sentiments and the Temple would not have been destroyed. The Second Temple, on the other hand, was destroyed because of gratuitous hatred.
Our period is that of the heel of Moshiach* and, according to the words of our Sages, all the final dates of the deliverance have passed. Everything now depends on Teshuvah* and good deeds. Each person must therefore, wherever he resides, redouble love toward his fellow, mark with even more strength his love for the Torah and the Mitzvot*.
These two necessities are accomplished jointly when one strengthens Torah and Judaism in the broadest circles of the people of Israel.
Is there a greater mark of love than the physical and moral effort that is expended to save one's friend from the Gehinnom* into which his sins can lead him? And all Jews are friends!
Is there a greater sign of importance for the Torah than to emphasize and explain to each person that it is the Wisdom and the Will of the Holy One, blessed be He, to tell him that it is immutable, in all times and in all places? Now, Hashem implanted in us eternal life, through the Torah and the Mitzvot.
May Hashem deliver us speedily, through our righteous Moshiach.

...ומסיים בפרשת היום, אמרז"ל (ב"מ פה, ב. ירושלמי חגיגה פ"א ה"ז) אשר חורבן בית ראשון אף שהי' ע"י עונות אבל אם היתה התורה חשובה בעיניהם הנה המאור שבתורה הי' מחזירם למוטב ולא הי' הבית חרב, ובית שני חרב משום שנאת חנם וכדאיתא ביומא (ט, ב).
ועתה בעקבתא דמשיחא אשר כמרז"ל (סנהדרין צז, ב) כלו כל הקצין ואין הדבר תלוי אלא בתשובה ומע"ט עלינו, על כל אחד ואחד במקום מגורו, להשתדל באהבת ישראל ובחביבות התורה והמצות ביתר שאת ויתר עז.
ושני דברים אלו מתקיימים בבת אחת כשמתעסקים בענינים של חזוק התורה והיהדות בין השדרות הכי רחבים של עם ישראל.
כי אין לך אהבה גדולה מזו כשמשתדל ביגיעת נפש ויגיעת בשר להציל את חבירו - כל ישראל חברים - מרדת שחת ע"י חטאים ועונות.
ואין לך לתורה חשיבות גדולה מזו כשמבאר ומסביר לכל אחד ואחד שהיא חכמתו ורצונו של הקב"ה, והיא נצחיות בכל זמן ובכל מקום, וגם חיי עולם - זה - נטע בתוכנו ע"י התורה ומצות.
וימהר השי"ת לגאלנו בקרוב ממש ע"י משיח צדקנו.
